Are Your Words Hot Air Or Power!!!

You need to be cautious when talking about yourself. You represent yourself and need to present yourself in the best light possible. It’s not cool to go on a date and say, let me outline all my flaws and past mistakes. It might be therapeutic, but it’s not going to get us a second date to behave in a self-defeatist manner. There is no reason your new girlfriend needs to know you once cheated. All that is going to do is put ideas in her head that you can’t be trusted, and will cheat on her.

You need to be careful what you say, how you speak to others and certainly how you think and speak about yourself. Joel Osteen said, “Don't ever criticize yourself. Don't go around all day long thinking, 'I'm unattractive, I'm slow, I'm not as smart as my brother.' God wasn't having a bad day when he made you.

You can't be as good as you’re supposed to be if you don’t have faith in yourself. The words you speak directly reflect how you feel about yourself. You should be your biggest advocate and cheerleader. You should speak kind words of yourself and of others.

It’s obviously wiser to focus on your joy than sorrow. If you want good things to come to you speak about them in a humble manner. When talking, you should emphasize what you want and like over what you don’t want and dislike, because words are magnets and are the seeds that build reality. This action of speaking of your wishes is beneficial because it switches the mind and demeanor of a person from a negative state to a positive state of being.

Talking about what you want to happen in your future also helps you to recognize and acknowledge your goals and ambitions. Once you know what you want, you can place steps in the outer world to obtain it. You should talk about what you want to see happen. By speaking on any topic you are drawing attention towards it and giving it your energy. You do not have an infinite amount of energy to expand. It is not wise to exhaust yourself on dealing with matters that make you miserable and unhappy.

Words are how we try to make sense of the world. It’s how we collect data. The first line of the Bible is literally, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”. In the book of John, it says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” If we analyze this passage we could interpret it to mean words spoke reality into existence. We could also analyze it by assuming God and the Word have equal importance because they are both capitalized. Perhaps God is just a term for creation, just as words are used to create.

Now if you want your words to have the power to create you need to be cool enough to be a man of your word. This means when you say you are going to do something, DO IT. It’s that simple. This applies to ladies too. Be a person who keeps your promises, especially the ones you make to yourself.

We have all had encounters with people who stand us up, disappoint us, come late, lie to us, and what we end up thinking about these people is what jerks. People don’t like jerks and we end up not trusting them. The whole point of this book is to become someone people like.

You can’t be a liar and be likable. There are too many liars in this world. I don’t know how many guys promise girls the sky and the moon to get them in bed. This shadiness is not cool. It’s not cool to lie to people to get something from them, and then not hold up to your end of the agreement.

Keep your word. If you promise your girlfriend you will take her dancing on Saturday night, take her dancing not matter how tired you feel.

It’s cool to be truthful. It’s cool, to be honest. It’s cool to be reliable. If you say you are going to show up, show up, be on time, don’t be a flake. Don’t run your mouth and promise people the sky and the moon if it’s not true. Try very hard to keep your promises.

It’s important to keep your word as much as possible because this says a lot about your character. If you decide you are going to be a man or woman of your word, there is nothing you cannot accomplish. Sometimes, I don’t feel like doing something, but then I remember I said I would, so I go do it. The reason I go is that I said to myself a long time ago, I want to be a person of my word and this has helped me accomplish much.

The more you practice being a person of your word, the more your word becomes powerful. Over time your words will become ultimate truth and your truth will give life to the things you speak of. Words have real power to create. God spoke the world into existence through the power of his words and you can too.

However, the only way for your words to become powerful is if you believe in them and use them properly. The best way to believe in the power of your own words is to have a history of doing what you say you will do. It starts small like I’m going to wake up in the morning, or I’m going to volunteer this Sunday at a soup kitchen and then doing it. Speak of the easy things first and build your momentum.

Once you become a person of truth, your words will ring true and that means what you speak is true. If you say you will publish a book this year, it becomes a fact when it leaves your lips. It’s not hot air. You got to get to a point in life, where your words aren’t hot air, but the truth. If your words become truthful than anything you speak will come true. If you lie often to other people, you will end up lying to yourself.

Oh yeah, and don’t gossip about people and spread rumors. That makes you a horrible person. Sean Covey said, “Isn’t it kind of silly to think that tearing someone else down builds you up?
