COLLEGE + DEBT= SUCKS TO BE YOU

COLLEGE + DEBT= SUCKS TO BE YOU

Everyone peer pressures us to go to college. The never ending hallway of education is a conveyor belt we get put on at a young age.It steals our time and robs us from our lives. We look at books all day and literally start to develop tunnel vision as our backs contort to the shape of a chair we are forced to sit in for 8 hours. School pretty much just teaches us to stop using our bodies and accept people in positions of authority they shouldn’t have over us.

We don’t get to study our interest, but a curriculum designed to bore us to death and fill our heads with outdated and irrelevant information. Our teachers tell us to go to college, our guidance counselors, our friends and parents tell us it’s the only way to get ahead in LIFE and get a good job, but they couldn’t be any more full of IT. Just google dropouts who are wildly successful.Funny lady Ellen Degeneres dropped out of university of New Orleans after just one semester.Oprah, dropped our of Tennessee State. John Lennon was expelled from Liverpool, so he joined a band. The list goes on and on.

Most jobs don’t require a college degree. In fact, once you graduate from college you will find yourself resenting most of your coworkers who don’t have a degree and are working the same position as you. You will notice your boss doesn’t have a degree and it will be hard for you to work for him for that reason.

We get college degrees because we think it means once we want to start a career it will be a cake walk, but even with a college degree, you don’t miraculously get a better job than the rest of the population. Sometimes your degree can hurt you because people will assume you are arrogant and entitled, especially non-degree holders, which is the majority of the population.

I went to College because I’m an idiot.. It was a big waste of time and an even bigger waste of money. Honestly, i don't know if i will ever be able to be able to repay my student loans. I better land that fancy Lawyer gig soon!!!!!!

It's ironic because when you are in the college bubble, you assume you are so much smarter and better than the people who didn't go and just started working at Wal-mart. Then you graduate college, find the job market sucks, and the kid you thought was a loser is your boss making two dollars more than you. The difference is he isn't 60,000 in debt, so who made the better decisions.

It seems to me high school drop-outs might have been the only ones able to think for themselves. If college were free in the United States, I would say hands down get an education, but college is not free. It will cost you 20,000 to 120,000 to get a college degree in the US and most of us BA holders are 60,000 in debt. It’s worse than that because our  debt doesn’t just sit there, it grows with interest rates every day. Unless you are specializing in medicine or engineering, or want to be an educator, i highly suggest looking at alternative routes just like Steve Jobs and remember, he started up a computer company without majoring in computer sciences or business.

As soon as we set foot in university we have set ourselves up for financial ruin and failure, while the whole time our mentors told us, and practically dragged us through these very expensive classroom doors. -Lyon Brave

I think education is very important, but not at the cost of leaving your broke as a joke, which is currently the American way. Reality. Currently, getting an education in the US may not be worth the financial burden.

Dear Sallie Mae,

In our youth we are very competitive. Not in a gladiator definition but rather we are competitive with life. College is a fix for that. In most cases our youth are unsure of what they want to be when they grow up. High School is a mess, a microcosmic Alice and wonderland. Although i did enjoy it. Our education system is broken in many ways but the specific reason is folks like yourself entered into it because it was what everyone said is the right thing to do. I am sure many have been totally fulfilled and went on to execute life around their chosen education. But i believe we are seeing that many are finding out the high speed train decisions of jumping on or off during our frontal cortex development has met with cognitive dissonance. I believe as parents we really need to help our children explore their possibilities before taking the jump.
