Getting My Ducks In A Row

Getting your ducks in a row is a popular expression we use in America. When we tell someone we are trying to get our ducks in a row it means we are trying to get our lives together. This requires having a plan and a clear vision for the future.  It means working on your financial responsibilities, finding the right career, the right partner, the right house. It means taking the steps necessary to be secure and happy. Sometimes adventure is not the most important thing in life. Actually most of the time stability is the most important  thing in life.  

 Most of my adult life i have walked around pretty aimless trying to figure out what's right for me. This wanderlust led me on some pretty amazing adventures like Teaching in Thailand and China for a season. However, the adventurer in me led me astray. I took in so many experiences I got confused about my place in the world. I have been looking at schools in Thailand, but their schools don't compete with American universities to be honest. I can't achieve the career i want abroad because i don't want to teach English. I want to be a lawyer. I want to work in politics and I am done compromising on my vision. I am smart as hell and i don't know why i'm just giving myself credit. 

 For over a year i was consumed with trying to help Syrian and Somalian refugees. Wanting and trying to help others burdened me greatly and paralyzed me in my life because I couldn't think clearly about myself or my resources. I was haunted. I realize I need to help myself before i can help other people. I don't know why it took me so long to give myself permission to invest all of my resources into my own life. Running off to Thailand to help some people financially would of left me with nothing. It would of made my life very hard because i don't have anyone to help me either. Instead I have decided to stay in America, and become an Immigration Lawyer.  

This Monday June 12th, I will be taking the LSAT.  This is the first step to getting my ducks in a row...
