About eight years ago I was obsessed with time. The Time I used to call it, in capital letters, as a separate entity with decision-making power, with authority, with his own Energy and Life.

From that time a series of writings emerged as vomiting that helped me clean my thoughts and digest what I was living. Here you have one of them.

THE OBLIVION

with every breath I forget a little more

and I know one day will come

I no longer will remember anything

always arrive those days

punctual to the appointment of oblivion

becoming nothing

what everything it was

I breathe

while Time (implacable bastard)

executes his impeccable work

siempre llegan esos d铆as

puntuales a la cita del olvido

convirtiendo en nada

lo que todo fue

respiro

mientras el Tiempo聽(ese cabr贸n implacable)

hace su impecable trabajo

Hmmm Gerry... That's a very good question and I'm not sure about it, but there is something very subtle that makes the difference for me. And it is the tendency to... whatever. There are people with a tendency to gain weight. They can make diet and lose some pounds, but if they are distracted for a while their bodies will tend to gain weight. This simile helps me to explain a tendency to capture reality from a certain point of view. There are people who tend to see the dramatic side of life. They can do therapy, they can perform visualizations, they can repeat mantras,... but if they are distracted for a while their minds will return back to their inclinations. And on the opposite side, there are others whose tendency is to see the (may I say) "bright side of life". I'm in this group. And I am convinced that my brain, I do not know why, secretes a number of hormones that cause me to "capture" reality from that perspective. I have no idea about the scientific reason but as an "user" appreciate every now and then people who capture the reality completely and absolutely differently than I do. That is the tendency of my mind and I'm sure it has to do with hormones somehow.

Forget the the forgetting when you prove to be unforgettable. Mamen you are unforgettable and that is what overrides whatever it is we try to forget. No matter what experiences shape us - they have contributed to the person we are today and in that sense we are more and not less because of what has happened to us, so I focus on you as you are now - truly as unforgettable. When you listen to Kessler keep this view in mind, for by the time you have listened, this is how it will enrich you.

My two key word in your comment Dean Owen is "I choose". That's all. We choose, all the time! And I like your choice. I'm not the one I used to be 8 years ago when I wrote this little "thing" (I don't dare to call it poem), and now I choose. 馃槈

Yes, Franci Eugenia Hoffman. Have you watched a film called "In Time"? It's a science fiction thriller and the "money" they use in the film is the time they have till death. Very interesting! Thanks for your comment Franci. 馃槝

My dear CityVP Manjit, I keep Kessler's video for a quite hour to watch it properly. And I'll let you know when I do it. The antonym for Oblivion in this case would be Memory. I realized there is a relief in forgetting and we forget a little bit in every breathing. Thanks so much for your super thoughts!!!

Dear Mamen, this is the thing I love most about my learning journey at Bebee, when variety creates diversity, because variety can also create confusion and questions, but diversity is in seeing anew. To this end I first must thank my friend Gerald Hecht because he introduced me to a book by David Kessler, which led me to listen to David Kessler and in that AHA! moment I imprinted this talk into my process https://www.bebee.com/content/697986/695766 and when I consequently read your poem Oblivion, my context had fundamentally changed in how I absorbed your thoughts here. When you consequently say "time is the best remedy for any pain" you undoubtedly will be fascinated with Kessler's notion of "capture", and once you listen to David Kessler, you will also see why Gerald loves this thinker very much. I also meditated on the antonyms of Oblivion https://www.powerthesaurus.org/oblivion/antonyms - because the word Oblivion while meaning freedom in this poem needed me to engage in a refresh of its opposites. Your poem is a good vehicle to process Kessler's thoughts on capture. Hopefully you will have time to process this talk, and if you do, I would be interested how you consequently related to it.

Absolutely Gerry!!! It is the way we focus the Time, it can be healing or can be shattering. Oh my..., I saw "Jacob's Ladder" long long time ago, and I was shocked for a long time with that movie. I remember the chiropractor, his angel, explaining him the way hell worked. Very powerful Gerald Hecht!! I see it this way: Time is a relief.

When I wrote this piece CityVP Manjit, oblivion was a relief for me. And I understood Time is the best remedy for any pain. As I explain in comment #17 to Debasish, I understood that what at that moment was completely occupying my mind, being EVERYTHING for me, it would be NOTHING in a question of days, weeks, months, never mind how much time, but it would be nothing. Oblivion, as you say, is written in by nature, is part of the rules and we have to play with it. And from my point of view it is the blessing without any doubt... Thanks for the links, always so interesting City!!

Absolutely , "Time is unredeemable" as T.S. Elliot used to say. And we little and weak human beings try to "fight" to the real sense of our life, the Time. I appreciate your comment very much Mohammed, grateful.

I do not remember thinking anything when I wrote this piece debasish majumder. It was more a feeling, I was going through a situation so intense that at one point I thought that this situation would last forever. And suddenly I saw a light, visualize that with every breath the situation was slowly falling apart and I felt that what at that time completely occupied my mind, one day would be nothing for me. It was just a matter of keep breathing and let it go. And it did work, Time and his impeccable job always works. Thanks so much for commenting Debasish!

Thanks to you Sara Jacobovici, I thought specially about you when I wrote this buzz. Probably the connection/obsession about Time has something to do. I also feel now more in a "collaborative relationship" as I "utilize" Time as my own remedy for some internal afflictions. Nothing stay forever, it's just a question of keeping breathing...

It is very significant how much importance we give to something very specific in our lives, and over time this important fact no longer has that importance for us. Time becomes nothing what everything was. It just a question of how many breaths will take us to forget. Thanks dear Ali Anani.

Oblivion is natures way of telling us that we are loved for otherwise nature would have made us to live forever. This idea of living forever may to our ego seem incredibly appealing but if we understand that boredom is what principally drives our choice of media today, imagine what boredom would be for us as eternal life. If disease and destruction the cause of this oblivion that is most unfortunate, a life cut short of its fullness is a tragedy even if it is considered to be the work of nature. For sure the best minds would like their work to be extended but even with that extension, a scientists eventual desire leads them to play being God. The question is are we one with nature where oblivion is written in by nature or are grasping destruction or infesting a disease? Vomit is the bodies way of protecting us, but oblivion is not vomit, it is an ct of nature. Through transhumanism http://whatistranshumanism.org/ we may find ways of extending life but eventually nature deals in some form of oblivion - nothing not even our desire to live forever outlasts the ultimate design of nature punctuated by the Big Bang. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/27/magazine/ray-kurzweil-says-were-going-to-live-forever.html?_r=0 In the oblivion of the old universe, a new universe is born but it is human to wish ourselves a long and blessed life - even those whose passing is passed down for posterity only lead to arguments about a human beings final moments, so should we be angry at our mortality or mortal about the value of life and then treat this is as the blessing? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Ludwig_van_Beethoven

I'm still obsessed with time Mamen Delgado but I think I am moving towards a collaborative relationship. I'll let you know. Your poetry is "timeless" Mamen, powerful and with the force of breath that strikes against my ear. I love your voice and how you perform your piece. Thanks for sharing.
