Count Your Blessings
I had things to do yesterday so I didn’t go to the college. I went to a food bank at a church Near I live, then to a laundromat.
“It would have been better for me not to have gotten hurt in Alaska.” I started thinking to myself while I was waiting in line.
It’s true I would have been able to keep working labor jobs. I sure wouldn’t have to go to food banks or budget getting paid a disability check once a month that’s a fraction of what I was used to making.
“But would it really be better?” I start thinking to myself a day later.
I’m almost 50 and don’t know how long I could have kept up working labor jobs with guys half my age. Besides that, people die on those fishing boats every season. I might have been just another Fish Story!
Maybe getting my back and neck hurt was a blessing in disguise.
I’m renting a room in a nice house my Cousin Ralph set me up with. I’m also in college, writing in my own blog, and have money coming in. There’s also time for me to do anything else I want.
That’s a lot to be grateful for.
Since I really can’t go back I’m going to stop thinking about what I can’t do anymore. Instead I’m going to count my blessings.
Even The Ones That Come In Disguise!
