Let It Happen

Let It Happen

I was going through my online course the other day, starting with the overview. After almost an hour of reading I was done with the first of nine sections of the “Quick Review”. This class might take a while. At least it’s an online course and I can work on it at my own pace. It’s also something I can do without getting more injured.

Speaking of injuries, I had to figure out a different way to walk so I wouldn’t keep putting pressure on my lower back and knee. Lifting my knees like I’m climbing stairs and stepping down on the arch of my foot instead of the heel seems to be working. I t took a few days to get used to. Now I’m not in so much pain. Since nobody seems to notice me doing something different, I also probably don’t look like an idiot.

Never let people tell you there’s nothing you can do to improve your situation. Maybe there’s nothing they can do.

I was on my way to Federal Way over the weekend. There’s a movie theater there that shows out of date movies at a discounted rate. People used to call it ‘Two Dollar Movies”. Now they show movies that are a little newer and charge four dollars, plus a little more for 3D movies. I wonder what they’re going to call the place now, maybe ‘Discount Movies’?

After around an hour at the bus stop I was still waiting. The busses run late on the weekend and the road crew is still working on the freeway. There was no telling when the bus would come so I took off.

First I ate breakfast then I went to play chess at Westlake Park. That might sound like a boring day to some people but I don’t remember anything bad happening when I was bored so I’ve learned to appreciate the boring times. It’s usually quiet and boring can be nice, well at least for me.

When I went to the park to play chess on Sunday there were police in riot gear downtown. It’s usually a quiet place but every now and then there’s a protest and the police come out in force. I was here when things went bad at the World Trade Organization protest.

They called the National Guard here. Those guys wore their riot gear and patrolled the streets for two weeks because people went Darkside. The protesters broke down doors and smashed in windows to most of the stores downtown and there was a lot of looting.

I guess the cops don’t take chances now.

Since there wasn’t going to be anyone playing chess I went to the library to use their computers. Internet surfing has become a hobby of mine I also did some work in my online class.

It was a breezy morning today. The stinging in my eyes reminded me the seasons are changing. I got some eye drops because taking more than the suggested allergy pills can’t be good.

I found a thermos coffee cup this morning. It was laying on the ground. There were at least ten other guys there and I was the only one who saw it. I guess being an artist makes me notice things other people don’t. That’s something else to thank my mom for.

Got To Love Mom!!

When I was reading a book in Starbucks this morning a lady who works there said they evacuated the mall yesterday because a protesters were causing trouble. Since the place is on the same block, they shut down early too. I told her about the World Trade Organization protest and she was glad that didn’t happen again.

I couldn’t help thinking that things happen for a reason. Like getting grounded all summer and finding an interest in reading and drawing, or the police patrolling the streets in riot gear, or a mall that has five or six floors and takes up a couple city blocks getting evacuated.

Sometimes you just got to let it happen
