Life Happens
Well it’s Monday. The weekend was okay. Someone who knows me from the fishing boats saw me and said good morning, then he called me a lazy ass. He probably knows I’m used to waking up at 4 or 5 a.m. and it was after seven. I slept in.
That’s Alaska humor for you guys who’ve never left the lower 48 States.
I’ve been making an effort to write something every day. That way there’s something for me to post in my blog every few days. Sometimes I miss a day or two, but writing is slowly starting to become part of my daily routine.
I even had to break out another note pad the other day because I ran out of paper. Writing is starting to be something I do.
My hand has healed up from the burns I got in the beginning blacksmith class. The burns turned into bad blisters. Now the blisters are turning into callouses. I’ll probably go back to Pratt in the next few days to see about re-taking the class.
If At First You Don’t Succeed, Don’t Quit!! At least don’t quit if you’re doing something you like.
My online course for writing Business to Business Emails is coming along. I do my best to work on it every day. Right now I’m at the halfway point of the lessons. Then there’s the networking information and newsletter I also have access to.
They’re probably good reading, but I want to finish the course before I start reading the other material.
I started out blogging to stay busy one summer when I was going to take a road trip that didn’t line up with the summer college classes I wanted to take. So I took an online course I thought would be interesting and started my own blog.
I wasn’t sure if anyone cared about what I was writing or if I was any good at blogging. The truth is before I got kicked off LinkedIn for posting what I wrote about my Lakota friends protesting at Standing Rock (they said it was too political for their site) I was just Joe Blow with a blog. Now Hundreds Of People Read My Posts From My Blog!
Many thanks to my friends at LinkedIn! There’s no hard feelings here about getting kicked off your blogging platform. It was how I got noticed.
After I finish this course I might actually get paid for writing. That would make me a real freelance writer!
How cool is that? Not bad for a guy who was just trying to stay busy in his spare time, huh?
A song by the Beatles says “Life happens when you’re busy making plans.” That’s probably true, but maybe life happens when you’re busy.
