There are other serious risks following pregnancy as well, especially if you’re older. Waiting until later in life to have children is growing more popular thanks to the ability to freeze eggs, but women over the age of 40 should be aware of the increased risks of heart attack and stroke. This isn't to say you shouldn't try for a baby if you're older, just that it's important to know all the facts before you make a decision.

There’s no need to alarm yourself over a minimal amount of bleeding. Seek medical attention immediately if you’re:

  • Using more than one pad each hour.

  • Experiencing dizziness.

  • Passing large blood clots.

  • Feeling your heart beat at an irregular or rapid pace.

3. A Serious Fever

It’s possible you picked up a bug from the hospital, but a fever could also indicate a serious infection. Either way, it’s smart to get examined by a doctor right away.

4. Stomach Pain

If you experience stomach pain, especially in the top half of your abdomen, it’s wise to get checked out. If the pain is accompanied by other symptoms of illness and malaise, you might be suffering from a condition that affects your blood and liver function.
