Confucius apparently said (more or less) that nothing new happen to people in the world its just that the same things happen to new people

It was while back and I am not even sure in which century or when Confucius actually lived. In fact I don’t even know if he even ever said that. I quite like the sound of it though. That probably makes me coming across as a dinosaur. If I wanted to be trendy I should perhaps swim in a world of verbosity. A world where crawling thru innovation waters or claiming breakthrough progress is the ultimate perception of success. Should I sail or should I sale.

Well the only thing I really want to do is take a break. I am getting tired of being bombarded by all the stuff so fake. Tired of hearing about the next earthquake or eating the same old corn flakes. The apocalypse rep is telling me that its always best to be on the move, that I should anticipate the next big thing, than today is better than yesterday. He often adds that I should be self aware that if I am not sharp I will be stuck in a time warp.

I frankly don’t care. I don’t know how much is a bus fare and the cost of a litre of petrol I am not aware. I am more preoccupied at making an attempt to do the right thing rather doing the things right. Confucius said attitude, latitude, altitude may all lead to solitude.

He may actually have not said that. But hey who knows what one really says ?

I will pick out the good points of the one and imitate them, and the bad points of the other and correct them in myself." As you listen to the apocalypse reps remember that we can learn from them and correct the bad points in ourselves. This can keep us renewed and rather than thinking of taking a break, maybe we can use the information we learn to become better. I enjoyed your thoughts, thank you

Talking about famous phrases, I don't know if it was Seneca or another ancient greek, but said something like.."oh, this new generation has no respect for the eldest, useless generation..." From dinosaur to dinosaur, I would say...: To be sharp, on the loop, you name it, is overrated. the only things that matter is to remain yourself, no matter what the others say...and if you are in the mood of changing, to do it due to your will alone, not because people say you should change

Just as Justin Currie sings, every song shouldn't have the same lyrics: "So go ahead please, throw away the rules and seize whatever it is you need to say". It would be great if we could throw away the rules or at least some of them. Rules we have been following for years are rejected now because new events have overtaken them (coronavirus is only one example). Pascal, I don't know for altitude, but life for sure have latitude and longitude. :-)

thanks Robert nice compliment coming from somebody who I admire the writing abilities :-) I like bananas too the thing i never know which side I should start to eat first and then I don t know if a banana has a right or left side... I should not worry about this really :-)

I like this, Pacal, particularly doing the right thing instead of doing things right. We devote so much time to doing things right, saying only what we know is acceptable. Being accountable is terrible. It keeps our wrists tied together and our brain synapse doing silly things. And we're tired. I think I was tired of corn flakes years ago, but I'm even indifferent where bananas are concerned now (and I love bananas). What should we do? Maybe Pablum. Haven't had that in a while. Sure, let's eat Pablum. It could catch on.

Hi Pascal Derrien "nothing new happen to people in the world, its just that the same things happen to new people" I realised this at 28yo when standing in front of Tutankhamun's Mummy in Cairo Museum In the grave goods were a pair of thongs (jandals, flip-flops, clam diggers, plakkies .....) They were worn by the people of many cultures throughout the world, originating as early as the ancient Egyptians in 1,500 B.C. Well I was very surprised as naively I thought they were an Australian invention ! SO don't believe Kiwis who say they invented them It's a lie just like pavlova I think everyone is very tired from COVID emotional stress concerning lack of knowledge & possibility of ultimate control I am taking a long break I hope you can relax & rest too Confucius say Support bacteria - is only culture some people have. Man who cut self while shaving, lose face. Man who pushes piano down mineshaft get tone of A flat miner.

Bill Clinton said...I feel your pain. And I do, because it's a pain that many of us are suffering. I will be much happier when a lot of the nouveau bullshit is out of earshot. I can't even remember what it was like writing before 2016. I keep going back to look at it and am just now starting to see what it was. I don't need a break so much as I need a reset.

Great song. I often say I paint with words. It took a long time to be able to do that. Now I can see how words can become music, too. My thought was to play the song in front of you. People, places and things are singing a song, play along with the song presented. Next weeks song will present what it does. WHy invade today with next week. Removing the metaphors. The fears of next week will not serve today. Great post and great song, it's a keeper.

Everyday is a new song. It is when we write next weeks song today that the melody becomes overwhelming. Play the song you see today and next week's song will be good. If we play next week's song all the time then every song becomes the same.

"Words are the means to meaning" and certain words are much more than some intellectual concept, but rather a map for a new kind of perspective. Thank you for reminding us of that.
