We look for beautifully crafted narrative mindscapes that move us with their linguistic, emotional expanse and powerful imagery,  We wish to witness the manner in which the absence finds its presence by wringing the silence. All this, however, with a certain aesthetic humility.

Our aim is to offer passionate writers a friendly habitation for publication and enthusiastic readers with innovative voices and perspectives.

Works published by us have found recognition in Verse Daily, Best Of The Net and Best Of Small Fictions, among others. We respect our authors and take pride in publishing their contributions in the journal, and therefore send out nominations for most of the major prizes and awards. We also promote their work wherever possible.

Hermeneutic Chaos Literary Journal will publish six editions in a year, in the months of January, March, May, July, September and November, carrying the best poetry and prose submissions received by us. We do not have specific reading periods and accept submissions year-round.

We welcome submissions by authors from diverse backgrounds and literary preferences. We admire all forms of experimental, hybrid and avant-garde literature, collaborative writings, visual and graphic outpourings - anything that literature is capable of. Our primary interest lies in works which inspire an active cathartic response, and not a sentimental passivity. To achieve this end, we seek poetry and prose where imagination, symbolism, metaphors, lexical ingenuity and a strong imagery guide reality to examine the creative chaos beyond its straitjacket cliff.

We accept both simultaneous and multiple submissions. However, we request you to inform us promptly in case your submitted work finds acceptance elsewhere. In such cases, you may withdraw the entire submission by logging into your Submittable account. If, on the other hand, you wish to withdraw only a part of your submission, please add a note to your submission mentioning the work you wish to withdraw.

POETRY : You may submit up to 5 poems of any length at a time.

FICTION :  You may submit up to 3 prose pieces to us at a time (max. 3000 words).

ARTWORK : You may submit up to 6 pieces of any form of visual art at a time.

We understand the anxiety and anticipation that haunt the writers when they submit their works for consideration to a literary journal, and hence, we do our best to respond to the submissions within 10 days, usually much sooner.
