Fear.

 Fear.

As this tumultuous political season draws to a close, there seems to be a tremendous amount of fear over the election of either candidate. The political spin makes an objective vetting of their qualifications a nightmarish  task.I think the way politicians are elected to higher office is riddled with conflicts of interest. Political ads hold no relevancy in 2016.The ads are just smoke and noise. The ads and political rhetoric just create more fear in my humble opinion. More pertinently, a favorite book of mine is Frank Herbert Dune. The story is a classic of sci-fi literature. In this sci-fi story, the hero must overcome his fear to lead his people to freedom. One passage from the book is worthy of eternal remembrance.

I think this nation future leader will need to get serious and address the core issues of this country. Moreover, the time is coming for the country to face its fears and move into a new dawn.

Frank Herbert.Dune.
I must not fear.Fear is the mind killer.Fear is the little -death that brings total ruin. I will face my fear.I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. When the fear is gone there will be nothing, only I will remain.

Oh I Love this. Eerie, Fear has been bringing me down but I'm fighting my own Self and I purposefully do not even watch TV. I lived in a bubble a time, that was great, in coming out of it because Life is meant to be shared, I keep bumping into Fear again. It blends into work environments and bleeds into everything. I'm learning to shake it off in my own way and be mindful of when I need my bubble and when I'm ready and able to reach out, share, and grow, without letting other people's fears invade me. I like what you wrote, and on the topic of SciFi and specifically your point that the time has come for the country to face their fears.... I wonder what your thoughts on an article I coincidentally was mulling over on the weekend may be.... maybe we can all be leaders and heroes are more about communities than a lone soldier. I wonder... http://davidbrin.blogspot.com/2016/09/at-intersection-of-science-fiction-and.html?m=1
