A friend told me that he wanted to create a blog to launch his blogging career and earn income on a monthly basis. It is possible to make money from your blog and you may have read about many things to do that. But, it is important to have realistic expectations. Blogging is not a get rich quick scheme. It takes hard work and is not going to happen overnight. Most sites will fail to earn any income, many will make some pocket change only, and a some people do so well that they can quit their jobs. My recommendation is to keep your day job but start working seriously on your online project in your free time (or in working hours if you can get away with it).

If you do make it, blogging allows you to build a career around a topic you are passionate about and have a very flexible lifestyle. This allows you to work from anywhere in the world, and even from your phone.  You are now also not handcuff by time.  This is because your Blog content works for you around the clock. So be prepared to work smart and to put in the effort as a part-time venture in order to achieve your goals and turn it into a full-time job. Here’s how you can make first $500 from your blog.

•   Monetizable Topic  - The topic you write on has to have a buying market. Some topics are harder than others so make sure your topic has an audience interested in spending money if you want to monetize the site.
•   Valuable Content - You need to create something for your site to keep some of the traffic you get.  The best advertising is word of mouth.  So have a way for your blog to be shared on the Social Network.
•   Targeted Audience - The main goal is to get traffic to your site with a low bounce rate.  Without people visiting your site and without having a loyal  audience, it will be almost impossible to create revenue.

I have sometimes gone blank on topics to write on.  So a great tool is Google Trends.  This tools lets you find what the hottest searched topic on the internet is that day or week.  It may not be your favorite topic.  It may just be a movie, actor, or a YouTube video about a Squirrel. But, the main goal is create Traffic to your site.  These are "Bait Blogs" and then you have your own personal blogs in which you write about whatever your heart desires.
Your only goal as a Blogger is to create Traffic, and to guide them to your sales page, so be creative.

Just keeping new content to your audience.  People want new stuff and once have that relationship, they will begin to expect it over time.
