Step Back From the Painting

Sometimes your view of something is like standing to close to a picture. Now, imagine that you are standing nose to nose to a painting. All that you see is a worm on a hook. You have gathered all the details from what you can see in front of your nose and got a story of the painting.

Now, a friend tells you to take a step back. Yet, you just lean back and now noticed there is more to the painting. Yes, there is a worm on a hook. But, now you see a fish about to eat the worm. Everything has change even though the painting is still the same.

Again, your friend tells you that you are still to close. This time you take step back. You now see that a bigger fish is going to eat the smaller fish that was going to eat the worm on a hook. This painting is becoming fun to you. Again, your friend one last time tells you that you are supposed to stand behind the exhibit line.

When you stand behind the exhibit line, you can now see the entire painting and it's frame. There is one last part of the painting you didn't see before. The fishing line that was holding the hook with worm was being held by from a fisherman on a boat. But, the boat was about to be knocked over by a wave, while the biggest fish was going to be caught in a fishing net. The painting is called the "Inattentive". This painting I did make up for this story.

This story focuses so much on your goals and dream building. Each of us may have though down to the "Tee", yet it's good to get a new fresh set of eyes on they. "Two steps forward and one step back" was a phrase a heard on a audio once. The once step back didn't mean we went in a backwards direction, yet it meant we took a rest and took advice, and analyze where we were at that very moment.

Ask your self hard questions:

• Have I reached my goals?
• I'm I closer to reaching my goals?
• What is my plan now and my new goal date?

This rest time is different for everyone. It may be listening to an audio, reading a book or a blog, or listening to a mentor's advice. Yet, afterwards you may see something in your picture that you didn't see before. Not, that you needed to add something to yourself, yet, everything you needed to achieve your Dreams is already there. You just need to stop and look for it.

My own story began with my friend, Craig. I was so focused on my goals that I didn't know the "why" behind my reason for  achieving them. It wasn't until a few years after college that I met Craig. He help me realize that I had the "why" deep inside before I took action. Craig help me slow down and look for it. After he help me find it, I knew my Dream and goal. I had what I needed to keep going. Craig was the friend to tell me to get behind the exhibit line. When I analyzed my life, there were tears of both pain, and triumph. 

Even though I was in action mode before, I was pushing hard against a "glass wall trying to move forward". My why help me overcome this obstacle.
