The Traits of a Farmer
âThe farmer plants seed by taking Godâs word to others.â -Mark 4:14
First, I want to say the familyâs who put their lives into Farming have the most faith among all the jobs. Especially when there goal is not to sell there crops, yet to provide for their families. I wanted to share some of the traits I feel we could learn and apply to our own lives, jobs, or business.
- An optimist- The farmer already believes that they are going reach their goals. The are not looking for instant goals.
- The Farmer always Takes Action â The farmer doesnât wait until he has the learned everything about his crop or has the best equipment on the market to start tending his fields. The farmer knows that the he can not control his crops growth, or the weather, just he own actions. The fruit of his field depends on his filed and his faith in God.
- Early Risers- A farmer has a hearty meal in the morning to sustain him, then gets out there early to start his work. We should rise early as well and have our hearty meal of the Bible each morning before we start our day.
- Hard Working- A farmer has big strong muscles from working out in the field all day. Our muscle is called the Holy Spirit. We should constantly be using his strength to do our daily tasks and to help us make decisions.
- An Over-comer â A farmer will keep moving ahead even in hardship of a year or years of bad harvest. They donât quit and are grateful for what they already have.
- Caring- A farmer is constantly watering and taking care of the crops, he sees what they need and protects them. Â We are called to make disciples. Disciples take time and hard work and dedication. You donât just dump the seeds and then you are done.
- Does Dirty Jobs- A farmer does the jobs that others wouldnât even think of doing, like cleaning the pig pen. Â We should show the love of Christ in the dirtiest situations, in the slums of India, in the townships of South Africa, in the worst neighborhoods of New York City. Donât be afraid to get out of your comfort zone, to reach your goals. Of course, I donât mean doing something illegal or sinful.
- Rewarded-Â At the end of the day he sees growth and accomplishment. We will also see reward the end of our time here on earth. Â We will be rewarded for our hard work as a farmer down here on earth.
To be a great farmer you need the Trait of Love. âLove is Patient, is Kind. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preservers. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4, 7-8)â Build your businesses and your careers with the foundation of Love and you will never fail.
ADD TO THE HONEY any other Traits you can add to this list.
