Are We Really That Busy?
These are some of the most common phrases that we hear from various people, each and every day of our lives. We too have used these phrases multiple times in various situations. However the word "busy" has been a pet peeve of mine for a long time now. The reason: According to me, we are never busy, we simply choose one thing over the other. The thing or person you let go off is subject to the word busy instead.
I find the word binding. Given the immense potential that each one of us houses inside us, we are limiting our world and activities with this 4-lettered word. The moment we say it out loud, we make not only others but also ourselves believe that we are short on time, and that we are just incapable of handling our schedule.
We all are capable of superhuman abilities. The answer lies in us. Intent. Ever since I discovered the power of Intent in my life, I feel unstoppable. It is almost like being addicted to a drug. I make sure I am there for my family, friends, neighbors, and even acquaintances. The question is not how, it is why? When I feel that I have a responsibility or rather I just want to be there for someone, I do it. Saying or rather admitting to the fact that I am busy reflects poorly on me. It screams out the fact that "I am sorry, I cannot handle time well, and on top of that you are way below on my list of priorities."
To this some of you may say, what about the time when I am in a meeting or watching a movie? In that case, you are not busy, you are just occupied with something else. And the moment you can, you will get back to the other matters that need your attention.
Be plenty occupied, but never be busy, especially to your family and friends. It does not show how important you are but how less important they seem to you. Instead of saying you are busy, tell them what you are doing currently and that you will get back to them ASAP. Define the reason as to why you are busy, instead of just closing the matter with that one word.

Thank you Devesh \ud83d\udc1d Bhatt. The only reason I felt the need to write this post is because there are quiet a few people whom I know who use this phrase more as a shield to avoid conversations and even mask the most trivial of activities by saying that they are busy. The term itself has become such that even kids have started using it to postpone their chores. Like you said, you are genuinely busy and you acknowledged the need of following up. How many people actually take the pain of following up? That is what I tried to address.
