How To Write Blog Posts That Will Hold Your Audience's Attention
Image Source: PixabayAttention is difficult to gain these days, but it is easy to gauge it. One look at the analytics of your webpage will show you the bounce rates and how long your site visitor spent on a particular page.
These analytics are truly a blessing, as you not only get to see which topics buzz with the audience, but also their demographics. This gives you a fair understanding of which blog post you should write next and how you can customize it for your target audience in a particular location.
Once you have a stellar blog post title, next comes the matter of writing it. It totally depends on the topic of your blog or the kind of blog you are writing to ascertain the length of the same. Long posts are excellent for giving a detailed overview while short posts are perfect for covering a topic through bullet points and small descriptions.
Most of the buzzes I find on beBee are 1 minute or 2 minute buzzes, which is perfect as it gives you a clear understanding of the idea being stated, in few words. And, there are some long buzzes which are 4 - 5 minutes long (or more). These are ones which you feel like going on reading, as the subject demands more and more detail to engage audience.
It is important to list the points you are going to talk about in the blog right at the beginning. This will stop you from swaying from the topic and giving focused attention to each point you are planning to write about.
Something I learned a long time ago was I used to write very long indepth articles with all the information I wanted to share. They were sort of like short books. I realized they had very high bounce rates.
What I did was took each of these articles and turned each topic into it's own articles. If the articles was still to long, I would then make it a Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 with links to each other. My bounce rate began to go down.
At first, it was hard for me to understand that others did not think like I did, and most people just wanted to enjoy themselves. Reading a long textbook is not enjoyable, yet reading something short and straight to the point could be fun and useful to their time. Preston Vander Ven

Thank you so much, Preston \ud83d\udc1d Vander Ven. I understand what you are talking about. I too, wrote rather long articles along with long, convoluted sentences, something that I picked up from the classics. My teachers asked me cut my sentences short and use words which were less opulent and more functional. It is then that I started working towards writing shorter essays/articles in simple format and it has helped manifold. You are right about the bounce rates too. Shorter articles attract more eyeballs. Thank you for sharing your experience, it was very insightful. :-) P.S: May I update my buzz with your text, in quotes and credits to you, to help readers understand how they can break down their articles with lots of information. It would be very helpful as you have explained it very well here?

Thank you Tausif Mundrawala. True, ever since we stepped into customer-oriented approach towards marketing and sales, this has been followed. It is of utmost importance to cater to the client's need, inform them, educate them, apply our expertise to help them deal with their pain points. Making the entire exercise about ourselves will not only make our clients disinterested, but also make them feel disconnected. I feel, as marketers, we still have a lot of room for improvement. As markets change, so do our clients, and so should our approach.
