Announcing a new Hive!

Announcing a new Hive!

= a

I would like to announce a new Hive, "Tales from Paradise", and I want to acknowledge Javier 🐝 beBee for his help and support, (actually it was totally Javier's idea and initiative so any "complaints" can be forwarded to him. LMAO! I will elaborate on this shortly).

Welcome one, welcome all to this sanctuary for sharing and celebrating the "paradise" that we call life and remember, "Paradise is a State of Mind". :-)

Let me backtrack just a bit, fill in a few blanks first...

Right off the bat, I've been hanging out here on beBee for a whopping 3 months, give or take a couple of weeks, (Yup, seriously! I know eh..), and the experience has been fantastic right from the very first day that I signed up and was greeted with a very warm welcome from Javier, Lisa Gallagher, and a few others. Timidly testing the waters over the next few weeks I was hit with a unanimous, "C'mon in, the water's fine!" from everyone that I interacted with, (and I mean EVERYONE). Now i'm really not much of a social media guy, not much of a tech guy, (Yes Lisa I still have my flip phone, but I now have a Twitter account), but I am sociable and have been known to be quite gregarious on occasion. Having said that I have "dabbled" on a few sites, not really interested, but I have been on that "other site" for 3 years now, (you know the one, starts with "L" ends with "N"), as it is a venue for my writing, (which only very recently I discovered that I actually enjoy writing!!!), as well as networking. Why is beBee different?

373ddb99.jpg - Everyone that I interact with is engaged.

 - Everyone is sincere.

 - the platform is very user friendly and as I said before regarding my familiarity, (or more correctly LACK of familiarity), with tech, "brand", Twitter, (LMAO), I don't know all of the capabilities, yet, but I'm learning and growing. A Chef told me a long time ago, "The day you stop learning is the day you die". I hear, read and listen to other's here.

 - The intelligence level here is extremely high! There are so many aspects of this that could be discussed but I will mention one; Intelligence = Sense of Humour (Nuff said)

So over the past few months I've interacted, networked, produced honey, always to a receptive, supportive, highly intelligent group of people, it's been a breath of fresh air.

 Today I got a flurry of activity on my most recent post, which has actually been out for a few weeks now, and I see that Javier has shared it to a Hive. Well I check out the Hive and it's called, "Tales from Paradise". Really????, (that's the title of my post, LMAO!), there's no members but Javier, and a couple of my posts but no others, my "Spidey-sense" is tingling, I hear The Twighlight Zone theme song;

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ny7uGEPgoXk

and I still take the bait! I join and apply to be administrator. Not even 5 minutes later Javier has discontinued being the administrator and I'm now the sole owner. You got me!

3441e013.jpg This is such a great lesson in Karma!

I really appreciate this gesture of faith Javier, let's see what we can do with it, (Like I said if "the excrement ever hits the air re circulation unit" though Javier, you're taking full responsibility).

So I'm pondering this throughout the day, while I'm working, (yes believe it or not I'm actually a busy guy, 10 to 12 hours a day in the kitchen, at a Lodge at an undisclosed location in Northern Alberta, OK the Oil-sands, serving 2,000 people dinner every night, no Dean, not quite the gourmet that you, or I, are used to). So anyway here I am with this Hive in my lap; What am I going to do with it now?

I start realizing what a smart guy Javier really is...

He sees a concept and it's up to me to figure it out, but actually, I already have the concept, I've already been writing about it, Javier just opened the door so I could see it, and here's the scary part; Javier knew that I would grasp it as soon as he opened the door!

I write a lot about perspectives, the byline/introduction I've written for the Hive is "Paradise is a State of Mind". Anywhere can be a paradise!

38ad11d2.jpg

The photo to the right is a self portrait that I took while in the Arctic Circle where I worked at an exploration camp for a year. It was -60C and I was out photographing the Aurora when I shot this and while some people may debate whether that's "paradise" or not I was literally having the time of my life. It comes down to a matter of Perspective.

So having said that I would like to invite one and all to stop in anytime to "Tales from Paradise" to share your ideas of Paradise or see what others are.

Paradise can be interpreted as virtually anything, Maybe you've noticed the photos that I've included with this Buzz, (or maybe not). As Sara and I have discussed, and agree on, we are "Sensory Beings", there is so much more "Paradise" out there that cannot be expressed by the intellect, Music, Art, Prose and Poetry, (Yes Ken, that's an invitation, LMAO!), even pictures and photos, "A picture is worth a thousand words". I encourage any type of input that would express anyone's idea of "Paradise".

I would be curious to hear what Javier's idea of Paradise is. :-)

In closing I would like to Thank ALL of you for your engagement, sincerity, guidance and coaching, support, and intelligence. Looking forward to see you on "Tales from Paradise"

Brilliant Javier 🐝 beBee, not at you, with you!! Ok, I need to work on this flip phone thingy with you next ;-) I thought I was stuck in my ways (with technology) LOL but my husband and son wouldn't allow me to be. I remember when my husband first introduced me to the internet, it was in the late 90's. I think we still used Windows 3.11 basically DOS if I recall? I said, "forget it, I don't need to learn that and I have no desire!" After getting me to sit down and showing me a few things he sparked my interest with the first chat program I ever used, IRC. From that point on I was addicted to that and games! I'm no longer addicted to games or chat. I'd rather talk on the phone. I think I burned myself out over the years with chat(s)! I will join your hive and I'm glad you stayed long enough to find out just how much fun, how nice people are and the other positive aspects of beBee. I was cracking up when I read, you know.. that other network that starts with L and ends with N. Ps: Brrrrrrr, your face looks so cold in the few exposed areas but good for you!

Thanks for your comment Deb 🐝 Helfrich, If I may; is not the journey our paradise? And just as with "the journey" I honestly don't see an ending to the series. Thanks for your great input on the Hive, I appreciate it.

It is a taste I perhaps will never acquire but no doubt one day I will enter a Familymart to be confronted by a shelf stacked with Yak Buttermilk chewing gum and Oreo cookies.

We call Paradise "Shangri-la", an imaginary place first mentioned in James Hilton's 1933 novel, Lost Horizon. Since then, a number of places have taken claim to naming themselves Shangri-la and indeed one county in Yunnan province officially renamed itself Shangri-la in 2001. Hilton concluded that Shangri-la, as you state, is really a state of mind and can be found everywhere, including in a cup of yak buttermilk tea. Happy to join this new Hive (and might just set up a rival Hive, Tales from Shangri-la!
