Bee Yourself

Bee Yourself

The Buzz of @Ali Anani and the discussions that ensued, motivated me to write this post.

Writing on beBee.

Bee Yourself

Part One - Why: The courage to engage.

Engagement; that definitely is one reason for me. I have never worked in isolation. I can’t imagine that possibility occurring. When I do work on my own or at times away from others, it is always as a result of the need to create that self-reflecting time and space in which to process and integrate the ideas, insights, perspectives and energies carried over from the work I experienced with others. After my “alone” time, it is the results of that work that I bring into my next opportunity to meet.

The engagement that takes place leads to forming important and valuable relationships that can only lead to further inspire my work and be an important source of my learning.

I try to understand and learn from what I read from others and that leads me to respond in a way that will hopefully make me understood by those with whom I engage and to whom I relate. I find the exchange dynamic and creative.

Part Two - How: By writing, creating and sharing.

“Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine, and at last, you create what you will.” – George Bernard Shaw

Everything we do is a creative act by a creative being. The choices we make in terms of style and content are based on the editing of that creativity. And properly so, we cannot negate the environment in which we are creating and the purpose of the work we are setting out to create.

When I am reading a Buzz, I listen to the story. I see the images that are being formed by the words, phrases, ideas and questions. All this helps me to understand and learn from the writer’s point of view. This then acts as a catalyst and leads and inspires me to offer my perspective and hopefully be understood by my contribution to the work being discussed.

It doesn’t all have to “harmonize”. Respectful differences, disagreements or even a healthy argument can be a creative force from which a new idea or perspective can be born.

Imagine!

In my first Buzz on beBee, I wrote:

The language of imagination is metaphor; inspiration takes flight is an example. The metaphor is "out there" to make it possible for us to sense and experience things in an unexpected way. We use metaphors all the time. Being aware of their use and applying this language in a stimulating and meaningful way, makes the verbal expression of the non-verbal sensory experience possible.

The metaphor of the Bee

“The bees place in our world is important beyond our understanding. The small little insect that works so tirelessly and quietly around us certainly is one of the reasons, if not a main reason, for the possibility of human development on earth. Without them, the development of life on earth, as we know it now, would have been much different and the conditions for human development may not have existed.”

The metaphor of the Hive

“The conditions we are talking about here are the appearance of the flower bearing plants and pollinators, with the bees, being the crown jewel of the pollinators. The bees, the flowers, human beings and everything that developed alongside humans are all an interconnected series of events over an enormous amount of time.”

This describes the potential of the community of beBee and our role or engagement within this community. Interconnection is the life giving force to any community; the community reflects its members by the quality of the engagement.

Part Two - The Response: Algorithm

al·go·rithm - alɡəˌriT͟Həm/noun

A process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, especially by a computer.

I do not engage in social media by calculating algorithms. I carry over my old fashioned printed newspaper design of sections: Front Page; Editorials; Entertainment; Community; Classified, and so on. I choose which section to read and I choose in which section to “write to the editor” or place an advertising.

My writing on social media in general and now beBee in particular is to “be out there”, to get to know people and for people to know about me. I am engaging according to the needs of my work; I am a human in human services. I utilize the creative arts and the language of metaphor as the tools of my work. I am in the process of redesigning my website and I found myself writing; “I am a solutions provider. I enable you to arrive at your own solutions through the use of your first language, creativity.” My brand is; "Some things you can talk about, for those things you can’t, let the creative arts speak for you."

And so, I engage with “like-minded” Bees and join Hives for, as @Ali Anani says, the “pollination of ideas and more of their metamorphosis.”

I look forward to our flight together!

BRAVO! Ken Boddie. I love to discover the talents of fellow bees not appearing on their profile. I am adding this to my "Quote of the month" section on my profile and will use it in starting a new Hive; Metaphors; the language of creative thinking. Please join.
