GUCCI DECAPITATES GOOD TASTE, BUT HE DOES IT WITH AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE

A gigantic operating room, this the set design by Alessandro Michele for the Gucci men's and women's autumn / winter collection 2018-19; severed heads of the female end male models under their arm in an aseptic catwalk and cacophonous outfits as usual.

The choice of creepy setting is due to Michele's belief in considering his work to be comparable the one of a surgeon; according to this, he cuts, sews and reassembles clothes, as well as personalities.

On this I could go on for hours to write about the fact that a surgeon "adjusts" people and lives and cloths and fabrics, there is a "small" difference; I consider this boutade a provocative insult against people who enter and leave the real operating rooms every day in the world, but this does not want to be the meaning of my post.

I would rather dwell on the two main themes of the collection: the message conveyed and the aesthetic style of the presentation of this (according to many) misunderstood genius.

It seems that by now the roads walked by the system are two: the first, make clothes and fashion to be  bought, worn and maybe interpreted as people believe, even if it still remains difficult to accept the mood that if a man wants to dress as a woman why do not buy directly  a skirt and not a man defined skirt? But this is my thought). The second, in which fashion has to launch messages and appeals for everyone to understand that even stylists are able to communicate something in a strong way beyond their tailoring creations.
