Dead men walking

Dead men walking

Dead men walking, limping, shuffling

Fighting the good fight

Or is it?

Dead men walking, running,

Heading toward

The impossible, plausible, dream

Dead men walking, evading

The scourge of modern-day slavery

As they fight and strive to provide

For tomorrow's never-ending needs

Dead men walking, walking stoutly

Toward their harried future

With little thought of what could've been

Had they not been walking dead.

The Earth I once strode proudly
I now shuffle softly
A monument I once hoped build
Now stands alone unnoticed
The mind I once touted loudly
Remains intact despite my efforts
Where I once spoke for many
Now those words only echo alone

A fabulous poem @Sue Chien Lee You are correct, most of the time we complain 'how life is treating us?' Did we ever ponder 'how we treat life?' A call for some affirmative actions.

I would say the same as Catalina, kudos for coming up with that second question I think we should ask ourselves how are we treating life daily.

I like the second question: How are you treating life? as Angelina Jolie says: I came to this world to make something out of my life "to be of use" is what I would like the most that's how I would like to treat life. Nice words @Sue Chien Lee
