What If the Solution Is More Dangerous than the Problem Itself?

What If the Solution Is More Dangerous than the Problem Itself?

20f42fcb.jpg

Recently an article came out that my friend Ali 🐝 Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee.

Anyway, the point of this article is not to pinpoint yet another spam promotion. There are more effective ways of doing that. The point is that there are other, more subtle scams that we may fall victim to, without realizing it ever. When someone is focused on something that may or may not be relevant (aka a distraction), other things may be happening in the background. This is the classical technique magicians use on stage, fooling their audience until the prestige comes as a revelation, completing their trick. At the end of the day, it's all about manipulating attention, something these stage performers are adept at doing. If as the great Bard famously said "all the world's a stage," I wonder what other tricks are happening right before our eyes, masquerading themselves as solutions to problems that may be just a distraction… I wonder who the magician performing these tricks is and what he gains from all this… Something to think about...

In answer to the question. I would do a risk analysis of the solution, and then decide on a course of action. The result would depend on whether one was essentially a risk taker or was risk adverse in out look. To quote a phrase I often use, there is no wrong answer to your question, just some that are better than others. Which you choose is personal to you.

Thank you for the insightful comment! There's quite a bit to unpack here so I'll focus on a couple of points: 1. Love may be predictable to some extent through heuristics like proximity. However, in my experience, it's not as simple as that. For example, there was this Seattle lady who used to volunteer in the same group I did and she got together with some guy in a different time zone and a different country (I think he was in Montreal). Perhaps love transcends physical distances... 2. The tear-jerking movies are a thing! Perhaps that's why film-making is as much of a science as it is an art.

Rasputin comes to mind as someone who had the ability to mesmerize and psychologically entrance people in great power. The mistake we make is that we individually are too smart to be fooled or enamored by people who can manipulate us. If there is anyone who does not know who Rasputin here, this link makes it very clear https://viralnova.com/rasputin-pictures/ At a benign level there are the tricks of persuasion that Robert Cialdini https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qelyk_mWBs In this case his mental magic can be used for good or for nefarious purposes. If we are aware of what Cialdini teaches about persuasion, we can become aware enough how these persuasion tips work but that does not necessarily mean we will become impervious to marketing techniques. The third piece I will put on the table is LOVE. This is because I have come to understand that the basis of love is statistical and not supernal. The way we marry include statistical realities like PROXIMITY. We did not marry because of some great spiritual connection but maybe more probably because we were nearby. https://time.com/2918758/how-to-make-someone-fall-in-love-with-you/ Emotional intelligence awareness may help us who have good hearts and are good people, but for a nefarious narcissist it is well-researched playbook of human experiences - leading to the dark side. https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2014/01/the-dark-side-of-emotional-intelligence/282720/ Finally the last weave of magic is in the hands of directors who know how to create tear-jerking movies. I am at a loss why some movies (especially one's made by leading Hindi directors in Bollywood) have the ability to make us cry - even when we have seen the movie before and know what is going to happen. They know the combination that gets us every single time https://www.vox.com/2018/11/28/18112712/kal-ho-naa-ho-khnh-shah-rukh-khan-cultural-influence

This comment requires a proper response that can only be done justice through another article. However, I've already written two articles today and feel a bit burned out! I'll let this idea linger in my mind a bit and get back to you in the days to come. Cheers!

Branding has created a methodology in creating Codependent relationships. Your example is one of many that a solution was in search of a problem. In business we “used” to see things in our environment develop a convenience or solution. But social science has now shown us that if i can create a dependance on a boogie man solution through shaming, blaming or tragedy then i establish a codependent relationship. Generally at under 20 bucks a month, why not indulge in this solution, cant hurt? But add up all the solutions a AI Le and you are making a house payment. Politics has used this with great fanfare. To demonstrate their electability they reference folks served by them. On stage or video. Everyone is lead to believe that a overwhelming majority have received this level of service from their government. This was a staged event not much different than talk shows like Oprah. Anytime one senses their emotions being tickled by an ad, keep in mind a codependent relationship is attempting to build. Run!

You made me smile my friend Zacharias 🐝 Voulgaris. I did not'' realize that a small action by me would end in this consequence- the writing of a very informative and relevant post to all users of networks. I want to emphasize here a fact that passes the attention of most of us.Your post brings this issue to my mind. systems largely cause their own behavior. This has been elaborated by a simple, but very effective example to show that accelerating consequences "Anytime new actions are taken more quickly than the consequences of one’s previous actions are fully taken into account, a complex system becomes prone to disruptive oscillations. As long as those consequences are slow to arrive, speeding up the response to new data doesn’t help, but instead actually increases the severity of the swings" https://www.advisorperspectives.com/commentaries/2016/01/11/complex-systems-feedback-loops-and-the-bubble-crash-cycle Your post provides a perfect example of what I mean. Even the title of the post is good enough to reflect on what I mean "What If the Solution Is More Dangerous than the Problem Itself?". The actions are terrible for we have acted very fast without understanding the consequences of our past efforts.' This is a hugely-important topic that needs to warrants attentive discussions.
Ali 🐝 Anani, Brand Ambassador @beBee, thank you for the insightful remark that brought about this article!
