Senior Linux System Administrator - DURHAM, NC-18000VLK  No Visa Sponsorship is available for this position. Preferred Qualifications Senior Linux System Administrator – Oracle+BrontoLocation: Durham, NC As part of Bronto’s System Engineering team, the Senior Linux Systems Administrator will play a key role in ensuring uptime and scalability of the Bronto application and infrastructure. We are seeking a Senior Linux Systems Administrator to work on the Bronto System Engineering, Operations to assist in maintaining and scaling the Linux based infrastructure our SaaS platform relies upon.  This role will be a Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Responsibilities Include: Active hands-on participant on the System Administration Operations team to build, deploy, and maintain the physical and virtual infrastructure underlying our SaaS offeringTroubleshoot issues, coordinate maintenance efforts, evaluate new technologies, and continually iterate and improve on our existing infrastructureProduce and maintain detailed documentation and required updates as dictated by business needs and to the required team standardsDrive and own projects, as directed, to support and execute on team and company goals. Work in a very fast paced and challenging environment that is constantly changing to meet Bronto’s business demands and need for scaleHave a desire to advance into a Team Leadership role that fosters, strategic guidance, mentorship, collaboration and career growth amongst other System AdministratorsParticipation in On-Call rotation is requiredParticipation in local physical data center rotation is requiredParticipation in infrequent off-hours maintenance is requiredRequired Skills and Experience: Proven skills in Linux administration, troubleshooting, and tuning a mustMust possess a strong “team focus” with proven collaboration skills that foster an environment of learning and working together to get the job doneIn-depth understanding of virtualization, scalability, and securityStrong knowledge of Xen based virtualization, containers, ZFS administration, and cloud architecture is a plusExperience configuring and troubleshooting LDAP, DNS, NFS, iSCSI, and other core Linux services requiredSelf-motivated and possess well developed critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong written, verbal and interpersonal skillsShell scripting and some familiarity with Ruby or Python requiredWork experience at a cloud service provider and intimate knowledge of the complexities of administering and managing a cloud environment highly desirable (AWS/OCI/Azure)Experience with Puppet and Git a plus8+ years in Linux System Administration role in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment10+ years in Information TechnologyPrevious Leadership experience is a plusBS in Computer Science or equivalentRed Hat and Oracle certification is a plusMust be able to lift 50 lbs
 Detailed Description and Job Requirements Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company. Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliablility of the system. Manage the load configurations of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Coordinate terminal orders and cable installation, network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing. Approves action requests and specifies purchase requisitions. Negotiates and places orders with common carriers. May play a team leader role for developing System Administrators. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization.
