Description

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and patient Learning Support Assistant to support a named child on a 1 to 1 basis. This may include academic, emotional/behavioural/medical needs. You will assist teachers in providing a learning environment that enables all children to access the curriculum and learn to the best of their ability.


Additionally - 3.15 – 4.15pm on 30 Wednesdays - term time only when staff meetings are planned.


Temporary position until 31st December 2019, with view to extend if necessary.

has good levels of English and Maths skills

has the ability to motivate and encourage students appropriately

has the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times

has an understanding of key safeguarding issues and procedures across the school


GENERAL DUTIES:

Support for Pupils:

Working with a pupil on a 1 to 1 basis. Deal with behavioural and special needs issues in conjunction with the teacher.


Support for teachers:

Help implement lesson plans for the pupil. Provide feedback to the student in conjunction with the teacher.


Support for curriculum:

Assist the teacher with testing and assessment. Review the pupil’s progress against learning programmes.


Support for the School:

Implement and adhere to curriculum policies


Detect signs of behavioural issues


Have genuine empathy for students with SEN


Break and Lunchtime supervision


Work with outside agencies


Corporate and statutory initiatives – qualities / health and safety / e-government / sustainability:


Maintain an awareness of school, national and statutory policies and requirements and apply these in the workplace at all times.
