1st Line Support Technician - Permanent Job Role - Southampton - £18,000 - £22,000

Your new role

The responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to provide 1st line support across all areas of the business and this will be a hands-on role from day one, based on the support desk. There may also be some opportunity to travel to the organisation's data centres and client sites with other members of the support team to carry out support and project implementation engagements. You will also liaise closely with the busy pre-sale and projects team as a key part of the job.

This organisation operates a 24X7 helpdesk facility for their managed service clients and therefore you will be expected to join this rota once qualified to do so, taking an on-call position at certain times in the month.

Training will be offered as part of an on-going development plan for everyone.

What you'll need to succeed

You should be able to demonstrate that you have a real interest in technology and demonstrate a basic understanding and desire to join a team of technical specialists who thrive on working with a range of technology solutions.

This company operates a number of monitoring and tracking systems and a good practical knowledge of basic IT systems and software (such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc) is essential. The company also operate a help desk system which will be your focal point for understanding and responding to problems and issues that are recorded on the systems.

Knowledge & Experience - * Microsoft User skills
* Basic understanding of IT equipment and Software product widely used in the industry
* Experience / knowledge of packaged software (support, monitoring, installation or troubleshooting tools)
* Be familiar with basic machine builds, for example Operating System installation and user set ups
* Confidence in handling customer/supplier calls and logging information regarding support cases
