Description

We are looking for an Associate to join our Employment Team in Bristol on Fixed Term Contract for 12 months. The team comprises of over 30 Lawyers, paralegals and support staff split over two sites, one in Bristol and the other in Bedwas, South Wales.


The Employment Team undertakes a wide range of litigation work, advising on all aspects of employment law acting for both employees and employers and encourages an early level of client contact and file responsibility. In addition to litigation, the team provides non contentious HR Support to several large commercial clients.

In this role you will benefit from:

Working on a wide variety of litigation matters both in the Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeals Tribunal acting for both employees and employers;

exposure to a range of complex legal issues including discrimination, equal pay, TUPE, unfair dismissal, whistleblowing and other contractual claims;

responsibility for all claim stages, from inception to conclusion, including drafting of pleadings, witness statements, direct client contact, advocacy, and negotiation;

advising commercial clients on non-contentious matters including drafting of staff handbooks, contracts of employments and advising on internal matters such as grievances and disciplinaries.

taking personal responsibility for identifying and raising continuous improvement ideas to create efficiencies to improve the client experience and manage risk.

About You

We would like to hear from candidates with previous litigation experience (typically gained through minimum 4+ years of conducting employment law cases) who can demonstrate the following knowledge and experience:


Excellent working knowledge of employment law and procedure with a minimum of 4 years’ experience;

case management and financial management experience;

the ability to adhere to the SRA Handbook; and

excellent client care skills
