An exciting opportunity has arisen working for a multi-disciplinary design organisation within an NHS Trust based in Berkshire. My client is looking to recruit an Associate Engineer on a contract basis for minimum 3-6 months (but most likely to be on-going) to be responsible for the design, specification and construction of engineering services as part of a wider design team or standalone projects. The Associate Engineer will also carry out technical investigation and reports on a wide variety of building services.
*To carry out surveys of building systems, produce feasibility studies, prepare cost estimates and reports.
*To prepare drawings, specifications, calculations (without assistance) and other contract documentation for the design, tender and construction of schemes.
*Arrange for tenders and quotations for works and where required, agree payment of accounts. Contract administration is a very desirable skill but not essential to the right candidate.
* Have an understanding of the Construction, Design Management Regulations 2015.
*Monitoring the construction works through to and including commissioning
*Liaise with and co-ordinate the activities of other technical staff, professional consultants and other members of the design team, as and when appointed by the client, ensuring satisfactory standards of design.
*Ensure that all projects comply in all respects with the Trusts Standing Orders, Financial Instructions, NHS Guidance and Advice Notes, Codes of Practice and Statutory Requirements, and NHS Estates Policies. NHS Experience is preferred but not essential
*When requested, investigate specialist and technical problems throughout Berkshire and surrounding areas
*Maintain project records as required by the NHS Trusts.
The successful candidate ideally will be proficient in using AutoCAD or be willing to learn; they must have at least 2 years’ experience working on Electrical AND Mechanical building services design projects.
