The University of Glasgow has launched an exciting, strategic transformation programme: World Changing Glasgow (WCGT) to support the delivery of our strategic ambitions as outlined in our Inspiring People Changing the World Strategic Plan. The ambition for the transformation is significant and will be University wide, addressing challenges as diverse as culture change, organisational redesign, development of new service delivery models and improved end to end processes. The programme will invest in major business improvement, focusing on driving efficiency and effectiveness to deliver improved service and experience for staff and students.

As Business Analyst you will report to the Head of Service Design and working in partnership with WCGT team, the WCGT Business Analyst will be able to understand the current organisational situation, identify future needs and create solutions to help meet those needs. Increasingly but not exclusively focusing on solutions in relation to information and software systems which may have a broad (e.g. University wide) impact to define the current and future experience.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Provide specialist advice and recommendations on business analysis to ensure outcomes are aligned with service vision and business strategy.

Using specialist business analytics tools and methods to work across the University to define business requirements for ‘to-be’ services/processes, partnering with IT to translate change into technical requirements and new business architecture.

Critically assess the performance of current services and processes to identify improvement opportunities, making high level decisions to inform the best way forward by defining business needs and requirements.

Able to expertly challenge constructively and act as a critical friend to achieve solutions that are fit for purpose, scoping change and shaping potential solutions.

Use influence to help colleagues understand how digital technology is changing behaviour and the challenges and opportunities this presents.

Liaise, communicate and build relationships with other University units and project working groups to support the achievement of University objectives, initiatives and changing priorities.

Conduct analysis, present results and put forward recommendations through briefings, presentations or written reports to inform decision making including the production of detailed requirements, benefits and business cases.

Oversee resource allocation such as staff time, software and finances. Delegated responsibility for WCGT project budgets to support the achievement of objectives, where appropriate.

Standard Terms & Conditions
Salary will be on the Management, Professional and Administrative Grade, level 7, £35,210 - £39,610 per annum.

This post is offered on a full-time (35 hours) and open-ended basis.

New entrants to the University will be required to serve a probationary period of 6 months.

The successful applicant will be eligible to join the Universities’ Superannuation Scheme. Further information regarding the scheme is available from the Superannuation Officer, who is also prepared to advise on questions relating to the transfer of Superannuation benefits.
