Description

Category Lead - Estates

£49,660 - £62,250 plus £1,750 location allowance and benefits

Based at Hanslope Park, near Milton Keynes

Every day, all over the world, FCO Services work on mission-critical technology and construction projects for government-level customers, including the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Our projects are as impressive as they are wide-ranging - anything from renovating and rewiring a centuries-old embassy to designing and constructing a new secure overseas site.

Given the kind of high-level work we do, our people have to be true specialists - particularly in areas like procurement. After all, as Category Lead, your team will source goods, services and works for secure government construction projects across continents. You'll be at the heart of that, translating our business strategy into an effective procurement strategy that pushes our work forward.

Pull on your knowledge to push global security projects

You're experienced when it comes to procurement within Estates. You've got a finger on the pulse of business trends, and extensive knowledge of supply chains. And you're ready to share all that with your team. You'll advise senior management on new trends and ways to work. You'll provide the advice that enables your team to manage their transactions and relationships more effectively. And you'll provide management support on our biggest projects and wider market opportunities, helping us succeed at the most critical moments.

Use your people skills to protect people everywhere

This is vital work: procurement for projects that defend the UK's interests, and its citizens, at home and overseas. To make sure we deliver every time, you've got to be good with people, both inside and outside your team. You'll develop commercial relationships with key contacts, so that we get the best value for money from the most trusted suppliers. You'll mentor other staff in conducting negotiations. And you'll even work with senior stakeholders in our business to make sure everyone understands and supports your procurement strategy.

Give us your expertise and give yourself the best future

There's plenty we'll expect from our new Category Lead. Specialist experience of the category. Strategic knowhow. Independent drive. The creative spark to push us to better things. It all sounds like a lot - but the reality is, you'll get a lot back too. That starts with great benefits, including flexible working, an on-site nursery, a salary-related pension, and more. Then there's the potential for overseas travel to build relationships with our suppliers. And finally, most importantly, there's the sense of pride. At the end of every day, you'll know that you've contributed to broader work that protects people, assets, and information all over the world. In short, it's your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared to the highest level, so you will need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining.
