Manpower is currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant to work on a temporary assignment on behalf of our client, based in a School in Crawley.
You will be required to work 4-hour shifts, Monday to Friday between 10:00
As a Catering Assistant, you will be required to assist the Cook Supervisor as part of the School meals team and promote healthy, safe food in school.
The specific accountabilities of this flexible role may alter from time to time in order to meet the needs of the business/client, but accountabilities will include (or be equivalent in nature to) those listed below:
Assist the cook in cooking, preparing and serving food.
Clean and wash the kitchen, fixed equipment, utensils and crockery.
Keep basic records in relation to stock control and Health and Safety including recording temperatures of food.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, when dealing with school children.The role will include ongoing physical effort for lifting or carrying, pushing or pulling items of light weight e.g.
carrying shopping, carrying saucepans etc.
Experience in basic catering and knowledge of food hygiene.
Experience of cleaning and use of domestic equipment.Skills
Ability to assist the cook in cooking, preparing and serving food.
Ability to undertake cleaning of the kitchen, fixed equipment, utensils and crockery.
Ability to record and maintain accurate information.
Ability to have a flexible approach to allocated duties and work as part of a team.
Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with customers, staff and visitors.Level of Knowledge
Knowledge of health and safety.
Knowledge of stock control.
DesirableQualifications and Professional Membership
Basic food hygiene qualification.
Training in COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations.
