J.P. Morgan's Depositary Services business is a market leader in the provision of depositary services, servicing in excess of $2.3 trillion of assets for 170 clients across 13 European locations. The Depositary team monitors activities of the investment managers against compliance with applicable regulations, identifying and resolving any breaches to help ensure the underlying investor interests are protected, across a range of fund structures, including funds subject to the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive and UCITS Regulation.

This Associate level role will be responsible for supporting several UK client groups, working closely with and reporting to the Depositary Manager to ensure JPMorgan's oversight obligations are discharged in accordance with UK and other fund regulation. This includes continuous risk assessment, oversight of breach and error resolution, documentation review and supporting the management of a formal client review programme, involving ongoing site visits.

Key responsibilities include:


- Working very closely with and assisting the Depositary Manager through oversight of allocated client management groups


- Participation in reviews at client/third party administrator offices, including preparation of agendas, drafting of subsequent visit reports through to closure of review


- Oversight of breach and error recording/reporting and assisting the Depositary Manager with continuous client risk assessment


- Providing timely support for review of legal documentation including fund constitutional documentation (e.g. Trust Deeds), Prospectuses and timely updates to operational Hubs, working closely with in-house Legal team as required


- Assisting in client presentations/briefings (e.g. AIFMD, UCITS V)


- Develop close relationships with client personnel and colleagues in CFS to maximise product/service offering


- Review/completion of tax/market opening account docs


- Provide oversight and support of fund changes (mergers, closures, launches etc) including timely updates to operational Hubs


- Oversight of client operational risk/performance assessment including key role in producing monthly report/exec summary and communicating findings to allocated client groups


- Acting as client interface regarding Depositary Services technology requirements including ongoing support for file uploads and changes to current reporting formats (e.g. monthly operations report)


- Provide additional support to operational Hubs as required and agreed from time to time


Key skills include:


- Experience of the Investment Management industry


- Knowledge of UK fund regulation and awareness of the broader European mutual fund agenda including AIFMD and UCITS V impact


- Knowledge of the Depositary Services product offering and other fund products across key European locations including current competitor strengths and weakness, with primary emphasis on the UK market


- Analytical and influencing skills to assess regulation, data and metrics, identify trends and opportunities


- Ability to network across asset managers, administrators, industry bodies, regulators and competitors


- Ability to develop and maintain high quality working relationships with senior client group personnel


- An awareness and understanding of the 'tail risk' associated with the depositary product


- Appreciation of the concept of depositary and regulatory responsibilities as they impact Investor Services.
