Description

We have an exciting new opportunity for an 8a (or Preceptorship Band 7) Psychologist to join the expanded Mental Health Liaison team based at Broomfield Hospital, (Mid Essex). We welcome applications from psychologists who are newly qualified, as well as from those with more experience. The successful applicant will form part of the Clinical Health Psychology Services across Essex, East and North Hertfordshire and South Bedfordshire. We have two other established Mental Health Liaison Psychological Services in Basildon and Southend and new service in Harlow, comprising of Principal Clinical Psychologists and qualified Psychologists. The successful applicant will be part of a highly motivated, experienced group of Psychologists working in this specialist area. On site in Mid Essex, the Psychologist will work closely with an established Psychological Therapies Service within Broomfield Hospital. This is a highly connected role to many other services, both on and off site. CPD is strongly supported by the Trust with further development actively encouraged.

The successful applicant will be part of a thriving Clinical Health Psychology Service currently with approximately 25 wte staff in services across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex. The Clinical Health Psychology Service is a service for adults who have problems adjusting to serious chronic illness and other physical health conditions, such as Pain, HIV, Obesity, Cancer and Palliative Care, Stroke, COPD and others.

This post introduces psychological assessment, intervention, consultation and support to the Mental Health Liaison team, consisting of Liaison Psychiatry and Psychiatric Nurses. This post is part of the development of this service which has been established for several years. The role is welcomed by Broomfield and there will be opportunity for working across wards and specialty areas.

Regular supervision will be provided by a senior Clinical Psychologist as well as peer supervision from other Mental Health Liaison Psychologists in Basildon, Harlow and Southend.
