Rutherford Cross is delighted to be working in partnership with a highly acquisitive, PE backed, service sector business to recruit a Commercial Analyst.

The role is well suited to a qualified accountant who has a naturally inquisitive nature, eager to influence the operations of a business. The successful candidate must be comfortable building relationshups with a range of stakehoklders and emmersing themselves within the operations of the buisness.

Duties include:

Profitability Analysis

- Supporting the Senior Commercial Analyst (& ultimately the Head of Operational Finance)

- Preparation of monthly financial accounting data in relation to revenue and gross margin for the group

- Monthly gross margin analysis including verification and explanation of variances

- Daily, weekly and monthly revenue and KPI reporting packs

- Reconciliation of the revenue and gross margin debtor/creditor balance sheet accounts and resolution of discrepancies

- Assisting with the development of a meaningful reporting suite to enable management to appropriately monitor business performance

Project Analysis

- Supporting the Senior Commercial Analyst & Head of Operational Finance in the preparation of project analysis and due diligence to assess business opportunities

- Evaluation and review of data generated by the business and creating, evaluating and challenging information when appropriate

- Assistance in designing and developing new recording and reporting processes within the finance and operational teams to support business projects and future requirements

- Involvement in the roll-out of new systems and processes throughout the business

- Supporting the review of financial effectiveness of business development projects

Integration Support

- Provide support to Integration team and Finance team colleagues for the integration of newly acquired practices (e.g. conversion of  software, addition to monthly reporting packs etc)

- Provide support to Integration team and HR with integration of newly acquired practices, gathering and updating all remuneration data to meet processing deadlines

- Supporting liaison with new entities in newly acquired businesses, including communication and advice on processes for fee calculation and payment processing

Candidate requirements:

- Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/CA) with experience working in a commercial finance role

- Excellent Excel skills essential, with the ability to work with existing models

- Strong analytical skills, and a quick mind, with proven ability to “find the difference”

- Excellent interpersonal skills with a confident ability to communicate results of analysis under challange

- Able to work well under pressure and manage rapidly changing priorities

- Logical, commercially astute approach to solving business problems

- Enjoy making sense of complex data and interpreting key trends

- Customer service skills: you are providing service to our Associates
