With offices around the world and central headquarters in London, the UPHE Content Group discovers, acquires and produces a diverse range of quality content across a multitude of genres (film, stand-up comedy, TV drama/sitcoms, music, sports, documentary, family entertainment, events & special interest) for global distribution. It’s multiplatform sales & distribution footprint includes theatrical, physical, digital (SVOD & Transactional), TV (Free & Pay) as well as consumer products. The business uniquely focuses on managing talents, partnerships, brands and titles across all rights and across their full lifecycle. The Commission Director role is a unique opportunity that works across key markets globally to identify original commissioning and co-production opportunities for UPHE Content Group. Its focus will be to foster strategic relationship relationships and work closely with our clients to deliver independent and content commissions.
Overall this role is key in identifying today the partnership opportunities that will form the backbone of the UPHE Content Group’s slate in five years’ time. You will be responsible for finding and developing direct relationships with established and future clients for co-production and commissioning opportunities for a slate of content across films, documentaries, family, comedy and all other genres. Your primary role will be to build relationships with all the broadcast, SVOD and digital partners who commission and acquire content on a global basis. You will know what content they are typically looking for and be able to advise the A&R teams internally what content should be produced or sourced to that brief. You will then present, secure commissions or presales to each partner, negotiating key terms of the contract with them, whilst liaising with our internal TV distribution teams to ensure that we use their expertise and knowledge to secure us the best deals possible.
•Actively build close working relationships with all potential partners who pre-buy or commission content for their respective platform and regularly update the team with information and contact at each platform, including the key personnel
•Work closely with the Content Group Production, Development and Acquisition teams globally.
•Work closely with the TVD and SVOD distribution teams globally.
•Responsible for evaluating projects for potential commission/pre-sale – create pitches tailored to a wide range of audiences including any client’s in-house commissioning teams &  acquisition teams
•Lead negotiation of commissioning and co-production agreements, working closely with the legal & finance teams internally
•Ensure commissioned programming meets the client’s editorial and audience expectation by actively understanding their content priorities
•Communicate/brief the editorial objectives and work actively with in-house Production & Development team to develop a slate of projects across all genres
•Actively work with Content Development Directors to help develop and secure potential projects to consider via liaising with agents, keeping abreast of industry and world news, seeking potential adaptive material etc.
•Encourage innovative thought and serve as a creative example to all staff employees
•Embed all rights culture both within the team and across every touch point of the business

- Understand changing audience taste
- Enthusiastic about the UPHE Content Group brand and experience in a wide variety of genres across film, documentaries, family and special interest.
- Sound understanding and knowledge in the industry with established relationships within the broadcast and media industry including all of the major content providers such as Netflix, Amazon and key local players
- Good salesperson with strong commercial acumen including prior experience interrogating financials and effectively budgeting for developments and productions
- Excellent influencing skills, able to confidently liaise with and secure support
