To meet our growing UK business needs and future development aspirations we are seeking a Communications Executive for the Lower Thames Crossing project.


Support the delivery of the Lower Thames Crossing communications strategy

Proactively identify opportunities to tell the Lower Thames Crossing story to public and stakeholders through a range of digital and printed communications channels

Develop and implement communications plans for specific work streams

Develop stories and content to deliver coordinated, integrated and effective communications activity

Produce high quality written content for stakeholder, community and media audiences

Work with team colleagues, project delivery team, client organisation and sponsors, and external agencies on the production and distribution of content.

Act as communications advisor to the wider project team ensuring consistent external messaging and use of content

Protect and enhance the reputation of Highways England

Previous experience:

Communications professional with experience of working in integrated communications teams in infrastructure, transport or public service industries.

Experience of working with marketing and branding teams

Experience of working in a high pressure, politicised communications environment

Experience of working with internal teams and external agencies to develop communications materials


Ability to think and plan at both a strategic and tactical level

Excellent writing, proofing and editing skills

Ability to identify and shape compelling stories that land well with target audience

Eye for detail

Ability to build strong relationships with wide range of internal and external stakeholders

Exceptional interpersonal skills and personal resilience to working under stress/different styles of leadership/getting things done

Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
