Reporting to the Senior Media Manager you will play a role in ensuring a co-ordinated approach to communications across SWR and through all our channels, using a consistent narrative for our customers and stakeholders.


You will also help us to improve the quality of our executive correspondence by developing templates for common issues, as well researching and drafting executive correspondence with key stakeholders.


You will be resilient and adept in working with colleagues across South Western Railway.


Scope


Support the delivery of SWR's communication strategy, including:


Co-ordinating consistent communications messages around major events and important changes.

Researching and drafting responses, briefings and providing template messaging for use in executive correspondence.

Providing web copy, twitter content and guard's announcements in line with a consistent narrative.

Serve as liaison between the communications team, web team, information managers and twitter team.

Ensure communications are delivered in a timely, empathetically and consistent manner across all channels.

Providing support to other members of the communications and stakeholder function, including in the preparation of briefing notes and stakeholder questions as required.

Supporting SWR's communications and engagement with political stakeholders

Specific Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications


Essential


Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Good confident and competent presentation skills and personal presentation

Excellent level of attention to detail.

Ability to be empathetic in correspondence

Ability to build good network of industry contacts

Proven analytical skills with the ability to research complex issues and communicate them in a clear way

Proven ability to work with a variety of managers and stakeholders, establishing rapport quickly with a diverse audience

Ability to influence and persuade

Ability to manage time efficiently and produce accurate copy to tight deadlines.

Experience of working in a large organisation with staff across multiple locations.

Excellent IT skills

Someone who is resilient and able to manage a varied workload

Strong planning and organisation skills

Desirable


Railway knowledge desirable but not essential

Experience of stakeholder/parliamentary engagement

Experience of customer correspondence

Project management experience

Please note there is a requirement to participate in the communications 24-hour on call rota
