Department: Rheumatology (Neurosciences and Musculoskeletal Division)

Base location: Brunel Building, Southmead Hospital, Bristol

Salary: Band 8C (£61,777 - £72,597 per annum pro rata)

26.25 hours per week (0.7 WTE)

North Bristol NHS Trust is delighted to have been successful in developing a Consultant Pharmacist post in the specialty of Rheumatology. This is a fantastic opportunity for a pharmacist with an expert level of knowledge in rheumatology to further develop their career at Consultant level. You will need to be able to demonstrate experience of working at a strategic level in your own organisation and the wider health economy plus have a strong understanding of high cost drugs and associated commissioning. As well as excellent managerial and leadership qualities you will need to demonstrate you positive enthusiasm and self-motivation for further developing the service.

You will join a dynamic and forward-thinking rheumatology team with close working links to the pharmacy department. Southmead Hospital is a tertiary centre for a number of specialities including specialised rheumatology | autoimmune connective tissue disease and vasculitis. We treat patients with aspects of rheumatological diseases and provide comprehensive services for inflammatory arthritis, metabolic bone | osteoporosis and CTD vasculitis. You will join a department of 8 Consultants, 3 Speciality Trainees, 2 Academic Fellows, 5 Specialist Nurses, 1 Specialist Pharmacist, 1 Clinical Psychologist and dedicated therapies team. The Trust has teaching status and is linked with the University of Bristol and the University of the West of England. There are close links with the Academic Rheumatology Department, University of Bristol.

The Brunel Building, Southmead Hospital, is one of Europe’s best hospital buildings, and is a 5 year old state-of-the-art facility with over 800 acute beds of which 75% are single rooms. We are a large teaching hospital trust with a major trauma centre and a wide range of specialties including neurosciences, orthopaedics, renal medicine and transplantation, infectious diseases/HIV, burns and plastics plus general medicine and surgery.
