Consumer Affairs Manager

As Barclays Consumer Affairs Manager, you’ll support Head of Consumer Affairs. You’ll define and manage relationships with consumer campaign groups and other relevant organisations to bring insight and their agenda into our business. The aim of this is to influence our practices and develop awareness of key trends, future emerging issues and threats and opportunities. We’ll look to you to proactively inform and influence key external consumer policy debates, looking to enhance and protect the reputation of Barclays UK.
What will you be doing?
• Assisting in managing relationships with key external stakeholders, keeping abreast of their agendas and understanding key emerging consumer trends, threats and opportunities
• Representing the bank on relevant external fora, such as UK Finance working groups, industry advisory panels and external conferences 
• Working with internal stakeholders across, to build understanding of the reputational issues and develop strategies to best mitigate key threats and capitalise on opportunities
• Developing and delivering engagement plans with key external stakeholders to ensure Barclays hear their feedback and build their awareness of Barclays consumer success
• Working with colleagues across Barclays UK Corporate Relations, to communicate Barclays story on consumer issues through all appropriate channels e.g. media, and political briefings
• Ensuring that all activities are fully compliant with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies
What we’re looking for:
• Demonstrable Experience of building a network and influencing internal and external stakeholders
• An awareness of issues and key players in the external consumer campaign landscape
• Excellent communication skills; verbal and written, with the flexibility to adapt your style to meet the needs of different audiences
• In depth knowledge of retail banking products and services, and commercial considerations
