Development Manager. Mission Critical Systems. Wokingahm

As an experienced Development Manager, you will manage a dedicated Application Delivery team that incorporate customer-centric design thinking practices and standard Waterfall & Agile/Lean software development methodologies.

You will be a critical individual for the organisation in delivering mission critical systems. The systems have been in house developed over many years, the current systems are required to evolve to meet future needs, including changes to technologies and development processes , you will also be accountable for managing the application development team. The team cover design (solution and application), development, unit test, build and release mgt, delivering changes for multiple projects.

The client will want you to maintain a central repository of design / systems documentation / with their latest version and connectivity details (Information management), you will schedule Application Deliveries (Releases) as per the requirements of the project teams.

Other duties will include :
*Creation of new Application Deliveries (Builds/Release) as per requirement. (Supply management)
*Analyzing application defects (3rd line), identifying trends and taking pro-active steps to resolve issues / co-coordinating for a long term fix. (Problem Management)
*Continuous Improvement to continuously evaluate Application Delivery management services for improvement opportunities (people, process, and tools)
*Automation to eliminate manual tasks as much as possible to improve efficiency
*Hires and leads Application Delivery management professionals (currently 40)
*Coaches and counsels team members
*Defines and manages staffing strategy and plan that consistent with the needs of the business

The ideal individual will be innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented leader to lead Application Delivery Management within the Solutions Development team as the Lead Development Manager. As the leader you will be responsible for leading an organization of application analyst/developers who plan, design, create, monitor and manage Application Releases to multiple IT project delivery teams.

*Experience leading complex Application Development for business critical/ high availability systems, with high volumes of functional change. All environments all encouraged to apply.
*Knowledge of software development lifecycle: both Waterfall & Agile software delivery models (Kanban, Scrum, etc.), preferably with migration of processes between them. However, the migration is not a must
*Experience of legacy and modern development technologies and migration from legacy to modern
*Experience with Configuration Management Database (CMDB), Service management (ServiceNow) and Software Development Lifecycle tools
*Experience leading development at a technical / systems & business domain knowledge level
*Experience delivering into Production Support organization using ITIL processes
*Ability to promote a team-oriented environment
*Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills
*Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
