Our client, a company that designs and develops leading edge, hand held, premium consumer products, is looking for an Electronics Engineer to join their Research and Development department. This is a full time position (40hrs per week) and will require some travel within the UK and some international travel to China, EU and US. Working within the electronics team, the Electronics Engineer will develop and test a range of appliances; work will include PCB development for embedded systems, test rig development, hardware/firmware integration and system testing.

Key responsibilities will include:

* To develop PCBs for consumer products including analog/digital design, part selection, prototyping/simulation, schematic capture (Altium), layout, verification, fault-finding, and transfer to manufacture

* To develop test rigs and test procedures for lab and manufacture testing, including use of LabVIEW and electronic test equipment

* To carry out product testing (EMC/compliance, functionality, reliability and safety)

* To research and evaluate new and relevant electronic solutions

* To work with firmware and project engineers to ensure that the appliances operate as intended and comply with the specification

* To liaise with external consultants/contractors, suppliers, contract manufacturers, Mechanical Engineers and Project Engineers

* To investigate and solve complex functional and reliability issues

* To liaise with the Operations Team to assist in the transfer to manufacture

* To support the Quality Control Team in the analysis of field returns

Our client is looking for a qualified Electronics Engineer with at least 3 years' experience and previous experience in embedded systems for high volume consumer electronics (or similar). Candidates will need a proven track record of developing electronics and PCBs. In particular, an awareness of cost, reliability, product compliance (EN 60335 or similar) and manufacturing/assembly techniques is essential. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of electronics engineering, and must have a strong working knowledge of OrCAD, Altium and LabVIEW. Basic microcontroller and Embedded C skills would be beneficial. Candidates will need the ability to communicate concisely and must be able to work well within a small team; able to make decisions under tight deadlines
