EMEA Sales Intern – Role Description


Based in London, this temporary summer internship position will support the EMEA sales team. In close collaboration with team members across the region, especially those based in London, the candidate will support day-to-day activities that assist with the identification of new business opportunities, enhancing existing customer relationships and outreach to prospect companies and other market constituents. This is a dynamic position providing the candidate with the opportunity to work within a fast moving sales team, helping to drive ongoing success.


Responsibilities will include:

E-mail and telephone marketing to prospect issuers to introduce S&P and to explore rating needs. Identifying and prioritizing prospects and feeding into the regional sales teams calling and outreach program via appropriate tiering. Seizing opportunities to organize face-to-face marketing meetings for the sales team with relevant issuers. Helping to move prospect issuers towards engagement

Production of materials to support sales outreach by the team, in particular around the new products recently launched including S&P’s ESG product suite (Green Bonds and ESG Evaluation)

Supporting outreach to key intermediary groups, including audit firms and investment banks, to identify opportunities

Working closely with the sales team ‘squads’ to assist them in developing ongoing sales strategy and outreach plans connected to ESG and Fin Tech. Helping the team take these plans to market

Reviewing market data to identify new rating opportunities across corporate and structured finance sectors, including fintech sectors and challenger banks

Preparation of information packs and adhoc data collection in support of meetings undertaken by sales team members


Requirements / Skillset:

High energy level/”can do” attitude with a strong sense of personal commitment and self-motivation

Well-developed interpersonal skills. Ability to interact credibly and confidently to develop strong internal and external relationships

General capital markets knowledge

Very strong powerpoint, word, excel skills

Team player

University student or recent graduate

Experience of working in a sales environment preferred
