Position


We are recruiting for an Enterprise Infrastructure Specialist based in our Head Office in Worcester. Working within the Insurance sector, the successful postholder will be a member of a highly skilled and technically able team responsible for the design, implementation and third-line support of a wide range of Hosted and locally deployed infrastructure solutions. You will be exposed to a broad range of industry leading technology and your focus will be the management and support of key technologies including VMware, load balancing and clustering, Windows and Linux high availability, Citrix,, Microsoft Exchange and SQL, MySQL and enterprise storage systems. Personal development is key within the team and opportunities to expand skillsets are regularly available and supported.

Key responsibilities:


- Management of enterprise Hosted and Internal solutions (as necessary) and associated network technologies
- Maintain a broad understanding of technology
- Provide third line support to escalations from the level two SOC team
- Protect integrity of environments to ensure maximum stability and availability
- Follow change management procedures
- Delivery of Hosted and Internal (as necessary) infrastructure projects
- Create, review and maintain documentation
- Liaise with third parties/suppliers/customers as appropriate
- Ensure successful delivery of projects within agreed timescales
- Enforce the Open GI IT policy in line with required governance/compliance
- Plan, test and implement future strategy/new technologies as necessary
- Review and contribute to business strategy proposals
- Perform any other duties that are reasonably required from time to time
- Be able to work outside of core business hours during project, maintenance or significant support activities
Requirements


Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following:

Qualifications:


- VCP or VCAP (desirable)
- CCNA or CCNP (desirable)
- CCA or CCAA (desirable)
- Microsoft, Linux and security certifications an advantage Experience


- Experience with the support and deployment of VMware enterprise solutions
- Proven experience with clustering technologies (Microsoft, Linux, MySQL, SQL etc)
- A proven approach to security (network, server and principles)
- Proven experience with replicated enterprise storage solution
- Understanding of network design and communication protocols within LAN/WAN/VLAN environments (Cisco, HP etc)
- Previous experience in a SOC or NOC
- Experience of Citrix managed desktop and published application environments
- Proven experience supporting Microsoft Exchange deployments with archiving
- Understanding of load balancing technologies
- Familiarity with system and device monitoring principles
- Familiarity with highly available Microsoft SQL and MySQL deployments
- Familiarity with highly available Linux and Windows server platforms
- Knowledge of Tomcat and IIS web site configuration
- General knowledge of Linux scripting
