Description of the job
Due to a fantastic period of growth within the Space industry, AIRBUS Stevenage is now looking for an Environmental Test Services (EVT) Manager to join the current manufacturing facility.
The Stevenage test facilities offer a plethora of testing solutions ranging from Vibration, Thermal Vacuum, Climatic, Shock, High Power & RF, and even electrical testing.

As the manager of the testing facilities, your job will be to plan and promote the daily schedule of employees and the business, drive recruitment to meet business requirements, develop and man manage a world class and highly skilled testing team, manage internal and external customer relations, create and maintain budgets including large capital investment, and coordinate with and report to senior management within the company

INTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:- All managers & leaders of the KPO,
Master Scheduler, Head of KPO and other KPO heads/Delivery Managers & the MAIT Workload Controller

‘Define KPO’ team members, Quality Manager, Quality Assurance, project manager, project engineers

Tasks & accountabilities

•Welfare and Development for Test Engineers, technical authority and GSE
•PDR on time for the team
•Keep your team engaged and motivated
•Be reliable for your team to support time management, Bonus & compensations topics
•Operationally manage Team Leader to develop Process Owners into Lead Engineer to be integrated in your team
•Create individual training plans for new and existing Test Engineers to allow them to develop in their role.
•Recruit to secure Workload / Capacity balance for Test Engineer and GSE and monitor the overall WL & capacity for test department
•Ensure an effective induction and standard training plan for new comers – with support of Technical Authority
•H&S rules enforced
•Promote an integrated Environmental test team by leading and facilitating the community as an integrated team
•Lead functionally & operationally the whole EVT test team


•Ensure Lead Engineers capture a clear view of projects requirement
•Ensure Lead Engineers formalize & monitor schedule logic, inputs needs, and costs for each project
•Allocate Lead engineers to projects & ensure they are delivered to customers expectations
•Ensure Lesson Learnt are done on each projects and are embedded for future projects
•Ensure Problem Solving is done on each occurrence of problems and corrective actions are taken
•Support KPO Delivery Manager to identify risks & ops and in customer interface
•Deputizing for KPO Equipment’s on all Test services matter


•Define the Vision for the department – define the key improvement, R&T and CAPEX that the department needs to do to be competitive and to become the EVT house of the future
•Fully own the Improvement Roadmap and Odyssey 4.0 development plan:
•Define priorities
•Identify resources and project leaders
•Make it happen
•Responsible to define (with support of Technical Authority & GSE) and deliver (with support of GSE) a relevant CAPEX plan
•Ensure new products are industrialized in an efficient way by your team
•Challenge requirements & optimized sequence
•GSE of the future
•Optimized procedure

Required skills
Essential Competencies/Qualities:

•Bachelor degree or HND with relevant experience (e.g. 5 years in production environment) in Manufacturing or Production discipline
•Significant (e.g.5 years) Experience in Assembly / Production environment
•Minimum of 2 years Management, project management or Team leading experience
•Experience of Lean implementation / culture, Quality environment, Experience of MRP, Scheduling experience, Cost Management, being able to be analytic People Management and leadership, Procedures and process experience
•Problem solving, Health & Safety, Budget Handling & Team Leading
