Repair FDT Engineer
£27.63 PAYE
9-12 months contract

This is an exciting and challenging role that requires an in depth knowledge of FDT analysis with regard to supporting the repair process defined by AP2433 and M20037. You will have a strong technical background in FDT and excellent communication skills. In addition, you will be expected to have the capability of attaining a level 2 repair signatory delegation within a specified time period.

You will need a good knowledge of fatigue and damage tolerance assessment and an ability to apply this to metallic repairs to aircraft structures. Fatigue, crack growth and residual strength analyses will be performed to assess repair solutions and you will use methods and computer programs to ensure that the repair conforms to all relevant airworthiness requirements. A sound knowledge of structures, gained preferably in the aerospace industry, is essential and a good understanding of aircraft production methods and processes would be beneficial.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a flexible, reactive and adaptable approach to work; typical deadlines have short timescales (often required on the same day as receipt) and this can lead to a high pressure environment.

Skill requirements:

Essential Skills:
Relevant background in FDT
Ability to quickly work towards gaining a delegated signatory level
Ability to perform in a high pressure reactive environment
Ability to liaise/negotiate with Design and Static Stress groups
PC skills and a good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
Be conversant with the technical requirements for analysing repairs
Good interpersonal and communication skills
The ability to translate customer requirements into operational deliverables and prioritise.

Preferred Skills
Interrogation of design documentation systems a minimum requirement
Working knowledge of Aviation structures
Working knowledge of Aviation design tools and processes
Demonstrated problem solving ability
Create, compile and co-ordinate engineering documentation to achieve valid technical data for repairs

You will need to have a flexible approach to working hours and will be required to work a minimum of one Bank Holiday per year.
