Job Description

This is a great opportunity to use your highly developed expertise in finance to help direct our performance and play an active part within Shell’s businesses. With the chance to access positive support and a breadth of experiences to carve your career.

Where you fit in

As Finance Advisor, Holdings & Insurance, you’ll be sitting within the Corporate Controllers’ team in London, as part of our Centre of Expertise (CoE) for technical accounting, risk management and Group structuring. With your focus on financial management, you’ll be working closely with Finance Operations, as well as with colleagues in Treasury, Tax and Legal.

What’s the role?

We’ll be looking to you to provide direction across multiple financing activities and businesses. As our ‘voice’ of Finance, you’ll quickly understand and guide on the best solutions that will achieve business objectives, add value and drive effective risk management. With an ever-changing business environment, your excellent insight and experience will be essential to prioritise activities according to opportunity and risk. More specific duties might include:

Providing expert accounting advice to project teams to ensure that transactions are appropriately reported and understood.

Ensuring an appropriate control framework is in place for risk management.

Maximising the use of Finance Operations in process delivery.

Appropriately involving other teams to support financial activities, whilst building overall accountability.

Naturally, you’ll be an expert on technical accounting, supporting direction on a range of technical issues, and helping to implement new financial systems and reporting standards. Your excellent communication skills will be vital to the role, ensuring you effectively articulate value and risks to influence decision making and drive performance whilst also playing an important part in training and giving context to a wide range of stakeholders.
