The outcome of this review project may affect any unsocial hours payments associated with this job. Existing Sussex Police employees must inform their immediate Line Manager before applying for this post. Working Hours - 37.0 hours per Week
To provide efficient, cost effective and timely administrative, logistic and minor repair service in support of workshop and end users of the JTS organisation.
Based at our Crawley Down Workshop, Snow Hill, Copthorne RH10 3DZ
To undertake and support a range of administrative processes on SAP and other programs.
Fully participate in a range of JTS transactional services including workshop reception duties,
filing, and the maintenance of records including job cards and mileage returns, data entry etc.
across the JTS organisation.
To support service delivery by efficiently and cost effectively coordinating and performing the
movements of vehicles to and from the police workshop, including safely and securely
removing\replacing police equipment (Airwave etc) prior to, or after being repaired by a third
party repairer (bodyshop, warranty etc).
To assist in the service, maintenance and repair of vehicles and associated equipment and
bicycles, including carrying out minor servicing and repairs under supervision.
To arrange with end users for regular maintenance checks for all force vehicles to be carried
out, to ensure they are roadworthy and meet minimum agreed standards, by weekly checks of
oil levels, tyres, batteries, bulbs, water / antifreeze and condition of bodywork. Any damage
shall be reported through appropriate process. The condition of the vehicle interior should be
checked and cleaning arranged where necessary.
To undertake vehicle valeting and workshop housekeeping. Keeping vehicles, workshops and
workshop equipment in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
To proactively manage the safe and secure supply and local storage of vehicle spare parts, oil
and lubricants and other materials and equipment to ensure items are available when required.
To assist in vehicle recovery or road side repairs.
To proactively contribute to delivering customer satisfaction and providing service quality
assurance and assist in service improvement across the JTS.
To undertake the duties of a competent person in relation to the maintenance of fuel
installations and whilst fuel deliveries are taking place.
To undertake all such other duties to the grade and character of work as may be required, including the specific duties of similar work or lesser graded posts.
Skills & Experience
Full UK Driving License
Mechanical knowledge or training desirable but not essential
Good communication skills and ability to work on own initiative
