Southend Borough Council is a unitary authority based in the heart of the town centre offering traditional seaside living that makes it a great place to live and work. The ICT department are currently going through a transformation and modernisation journey to achieve the 2050 vision of transforming Southend into a Smart City. The ICT function is at the centre of delivering new and innovative services to both the residents and visitors of the Borough. The Council are transforming to a new, future proofed ICT organisation which will offer improved quality of business and IT engagement with colleagues and customers. The ICT department aim to be customer centric, agile in delivery and viewed as Trusted advisors providing thought leadership and design thinking. To achieve this the Council are looking to appoint a strategic, forward thinking and driven Lead Business Partner to serve as a trusted advocate to bridge the gap between business and IT.
Your new role
As the Lead Business Partner you will serve as a subject matter expert, and be tasked with the development of innovative solutions and services that add significant value to the technology services provided by the council. This role will require you to provide strategic consulting support and promote IT to the business by acting as a trusted advisor to the business line executives and managers. You will be the key partner that oversees and ensures the business develop, maintain and communicate outcome aligned IT strategies. You will be required to perform business analysis and prepare recommendations and business plans to shape IT solutions to match the business direction. This is a key role with overarching responsibility and visibility to the wider business and is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing ICT's presence and reputation in the organisation. You will also manage two business partners, leading and motivating them to ensure that this core function exceed IT's and the wider businesses expectations.
What you'll need to succeed
Your previous experience in developing and leading IT business relationships and driving business outcomes by identifying and delivering technology and digital solutions, will see you succeed in your new role. Your knowledge of both structured and agile SDLC methodologies, and ability to articulate and implement strategic vision will also be key. You will need to be confident in analysing and synthesizing complex business and technology issues, whilst maintaining a broad knowledge across digital technology and data which includes mobile, cloud, ERP, Business Intelligence functions.
