Head of Computing (TLR 2.1)

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational leader for our Computing department. As Head of Computing, you will implement a vision and strategy to ensure the continued development of the department at King Alfred’s Academy.

We are looking for someone to inspire our students and promote a love for this subject both in and out of the classroom. Computing is a rapidly growing subject at GCSE, with increasing student uptake. The successful applicant will be committed to continuing to develop Computing across the curriculum and securing the best outcomes for all students within the Academy.

King Alfred’s is one of the largest secondary schools in Oxfordshire with a strong academic history, combining ancient listed buildings with recent capital investment totalling £17 million. The Academy has recently been reorganised from three sites to two sites. This has enabled very significant investment in the two remaining sites. Facilities for students and staff are excellent and include: A new purpose built Science Building, a new Dining Hall, renovated teaching rooms for Faculties such as Business and Computing, improved leisure facilities such as a new sports hall and expansion of Sixth Form Centre.

King Alfred’s is in the heart of the local community and has very strong links across many partners in the locality, and particularly with the primary schools with which we jointly form the Vale Academy Trust (VAT).
