The Head of Corporate Social Media is the owner of the social media strategy, its implementation and measurement within Barclays Group Corporate Communications. The role is focused on developing and delivering social and paid media content and campaigns across Twitter and LinkedIn with a possibility to expand to other channels. This will be done by supporting the corporate narrative through distinctive ideas that will elevate the Barclays brand, increase our reach and inspire advocacy among target audiences.
 
Reporting to the Director of Campaigns & Content, the jobholder will work in partnership with the wider Corporate Communications team to create and distribute high quality content. The jobholder will also work with colleagues across the broader Corporate Communications and Marketing teams at Barclays and Barclaycard to exploit content synergies.
 
What will you be doing?
The Head of Corporate Social Media has responsibilities at each stage of a campaign. This includes developing the overall strategy, leading team members to curate and write compelling content for our corporate social channels, overseeing community management and preparing briefs for strategic content partners, photographers and agencies with strategic use of budget. Lastly, they will oversee analytics and reporting. And will also work with Legal and Compliance to ensure all content is created, stored and published in accordance with Group guidelines.
The Head of Corporate Social Media will work closely with the Media Relations, Digital and Internal Communications teams, as well as the broader Corporate Communications team to execute the corporate social media strategy across Barclays and Barclaycard with a view to increasing reach of all sets of social media channels and elevating the   brand among target audiences (influencers, journalists, policymakers/politicians and jobseekers).
 
Maintain relationships with colleagues across different areas of the business, leveraging opportunities such as the Content Council and Social Media Stewardship Forum to gain a broad knowledge of ongoing campaigns to leverage
Bring creativity to asset creation spanning a range of mediums i.e. GIF, written and video
Ability to think and act quickly in an ever-changing, fast-paced organisation, with the need to always think on your feet and advise on best practice in times of crisis
Be responsible for a large budget, creating work orders where appropriate and overseeing a roster of agencies for content creation, paid media and reporting
Lead a team of three with varying knowledge of social media best practice
Manage agency resource, ensuring the most efficient and cost effective outcomes for the business at all time, and taking any necessary steps to refine and change teams where applicable
Understand brand guidelines and asset creation techniques in line with company best-practice and legal sign-off proceedures
Act as a catalyst for ideation and adoption of social media activities that align with business objectives and target clear business benefits.
 
What we’re looking for:
Experience in a senior social media role within a large organization (Ideally corporate)
Proven track record of building strong communities and followings through the use of Twitter and Linkedin
Experience in executing strategies, gaining buy-in from key stakeholders and reporting on success
A degree in a digital subject
 
Skills that will help you in the role:
Experience working closely with digital and content teams
Previous role in a financial or regulated sector
Intermediate knowledge of Adobe creative suite
