Description

Head of EFM Business & Commercial

INCLUDE STANDARD TEXT ABOUT THE HOSPITAL

This is a very exciting time to be part of University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust as we set about transforming our support services and our Estate.

This role has three different areas of focus. Firstly the role is responsible for the delivery of all of the commercial facilities services within the Directorate. This includes car parking, residential accommodation, health and leisure and retail. Success in this role will be achieved through a blend of commercial acumen balanced with an understanding of, and compassion for, how these services support our patients, visitors and staff. The role also includes the commercial leadership of the Trust’s clinical waste incinerator, which operates as Derriford Waste Management Solutions. In this role the relationships with commercial clients, the environment agency and other NHS organisations are paramount.

Secondly the role includes leadership for services that cut across the Directorate including the Helpdesk, IT systems, and for ensuring the patient feedback is heard, understood, and used to inform service development and delivery within the wider team. The responsibility for ensuring that the annual PLACE assessments are carried out effectively, and that patient representative groups are engaged will be delivered by the team.

Finally the role includes leadership for strategic services that impact the whole organisation. This includes the development and delivery of a sustainability strategy that significantly decreases the impact that the organisation has on the environment, and engagement in the City wide health and wellbeing agenda, with a particular focus on staff. New services, such as room booking and fleet vehicle management will sit within this role and team.

We are looking for someone with great communications skills with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders both inside and outside the organisation. For someone who has significant experience of working in a complex environment; has commercial experience; is resilient, and not frightened of hard work.

You will have extensive knowledge and experience of delivering a range of public and private sector services. You will need to have an excellent knowledge of the environment in which the NHS operates, and experience of leading change. It is critical that in this role you are able to maintain an ability to think and act strategically, whilst ensuring that you have a handle on the operational detail that will be the difference between good and exceptional service delivery.

Last but not least, a sense of humour goes a long way, you will have a great team around you, who work very hard, therefore how you lead and take them with you on the journey that we are on as an organisation is paramount.

For an information discussion about this role please contact Dr Stuart Windsor, Director of Estates and Facilities on swindsor@nhs.net or via 01752 439622.

The assessment centre and interviews for this role will take place over two days (Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 January 2020) – please ensure that you are available for these dates.
