THE ROLE

As Head of Employee Relations and Wellbeing you will be responsible for developing the Employee Relations strategy that drives a positive Employee Relations culture across all our Hotels and support functions. The role is based in Edinburgh, with travel throughout the UK to the Group’s Hotels as required, including overnight stays (anticipated fortnightly but may require weekly). 


- Develop strategies on critical Employee Relations issues and lead resolution with minimum business impact (continuity, cost, reputation)
- Act as a senior contributor on the people Policies and Procedures, in conjunction with the People Division and operational colleagues
- Design and deliver ER training for the People Division and business managers, relating to the implementation of new policies, procedures, employment legislation and best practice
- Provide commercially pragmatic and trusted advice to senior leaders across the Company relating to legislation, ACAS Codes of Practice and interpretation of employment law and case law to ensure sound decision-making
- Responsible for overseeing the allocation, timely investigation and management of disciplinary, grievance, claims and other ER-related issues.
- Manage, oversee and outsource as required all Employment Tribunal and other relevant legal cases
- Set the strategic priorities that shape a culture of health and wellbeing across the Company. Focusing on healthy work and wellbeing and employee engagement and mitigating related people risks in collaboration with Organisational Development & Culture
- Design and facilitate delivery of a range of innovative and impactful physical, mental, financial and emotional wellbeing programmes
- Oversee Sickness Absence case management and provide advice and support to Business operations regarding all short, medium and long term absence

REQUIREMENTS


- Experience within an HR/ER related environment is essential
- Strong knowledge and level of expertise of Employee Relations issues and legal frameworks, including recruitment, disciplinary, dismissal, discrimination, grievance, bullying and harassment and mental ill-health
- Proven track record in managing complex ER cases and providing advice and recommendations to senior leaders and business managers
- Experience of working in a fast-paced business environment with an understanding of the demands of a labour turnover of c60%
- People and relationship management experience
- Good understanding of absence and ill-health management, including complex cases
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and team management skills 
- Strong decision-making skills 
- Employment Law qualification would be desirable
- Occupational Health and Wellbeing qualification or experience would be desirable
